About Me
Hi there!
Due to severe illness in the family I have decided not to host for a while.
I do NOT have a smartphone/iPhone. I am not on social media. References to instagram or facebook accounts is a waste of time, because I will not read any of it.
Last minute and spray requests is a NO GO and I will most likely not reply to any of them.
My name is NOT Ladigue and I DON'T live in Oslo. The beeline from my place in Sandvika to Oslo city center is about 20 km.
My philosophy: Carpe Diem, live for the moment and fill every minute of my life without thinking about tomorrow. Hakuna matata!
PLEASE READ my Couch Information CAREFULLY before sending requests. I kindly urge all new Couch Surfers to put some effort into their profile, as well as the request itself, especially when they have no or only a few references. And get your profile verified!! I do not accept friends requests from people I have not met or hosted.
PLEASE INFORM ABOUT THE ARRIVAL/DEPARTURE TIMES, i.e. not only the dates, because otherwise I may not be able to host due to distance and time (early/late arrivals) conflicts. From Torp airport it will take you 1,5-2 hours to get to my place. Impersonal "spray" requests with obvious use of copy and paste - seriously???
If I accept to host you, and you for some reason cannot come or have changed your plans, then please notify me. Otherwise I might end up leaving you a "no show" reference. And how cool is that?
I love life, and I am a curious, imaginative and a well balanced person who enjoy philosophing - a lot and about almost anything.
I am usually very optimistic and consider the world as a playing ground for adventures where I prefer making my own experiences instead of listening to others. When I start a project I usually do it well organized, thoroughly and in a responsible way.
I am very down to earth, super realistic and live for the moment. My opinions are my own and, according to my friends I have a sympathetic radiation which makes my appearance both soft and deep at the same time.
Although I am always on the lookout for unusual adventures, I still have an immense respect for family, home and social structure. I am a very conscious and reliable person, but may surprise you by for instance giving wonderful gifts to people I appreciate.
I enjoy life, have a good sense of humor and self irony, which also makes me flexible, merry and far-seeing.
"Life is what happens to you while you're busy making other plans".
"The road to success is always under construction."
"You don't get a chance - you take it."
"Light travels faster than sound. This is why some people appear bright - until they speak."
"You cannot first say "yes" and then say "no, but you CAN first say "no" and they say "yes". It's all about the expectations you create by your answer.
I appreciate humility and common politeness. This is important to me in order to avoid the feeling of being taken for granted - or even exploited. Now that you have read this far I can tell you that I read lips in 5 languages. Please mention this and my real name Åse when you write your request. Then I'll know that you have read the most important part of my profile.
I LOVE HUGS! (Made a hug agreement with some of my colleagues at work so that I can get my daily dose of it. :o) I wish everybody could have that possibility.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I really like this concept and I participate by being just as hospitable as I would have liked others to be towards me. I try to provide my CS guests with as much useful information as I possibly can before they arrive, so that they can help themselves in making some realistic plans for their stay in beforehand. How many of us haven't felt like: "Oh, I wish I'd known about this or that," or, "I wish I had the time to see ....".
Being Norwegian/Estonian, the Estonian part of me is very hospitable. While I was younger and still lived with my parents, we always helped people who needed a place to sleep. So, this is very natural for me.

Music, Movies, and Books
I prefer books to movies and music. I like novels with an historical and philosophical issue. As for music I listen mostly to old favourites from the 1980's and 90's. I like feel good films with a "message", documentaries and films with historical themes.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Snorkelling with sharks and sting rays in a lagoonarium at Bora Bora, French Polynesia. What a thrill!
September 2012: Snorkelling with a humpback whale and her baby. Beautiful!
November 2013: Interaction with dolphins and walking in subterrain rivers on the Yucatan peninsula.
February 2015: Riding on the neck of an elephant. She gently squeezed my legs with her ears, raised her trunk and blew some air into my face begging for more bananas.
February-March 2018: Sailed across the Atlantic with the fullrigger Christian Radich from St. Martin via Bermuda and the Azores before arriving in La Coruña in Spain.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach you how to interact with someone who's got a hearing disability. (I read lips in 5 languages ;o), and if you mention that in your request, then I know for sure that you have read my profile.
Learn: I'd like to learn more about massage techniques. And to brush some dust of my German skills. I understand a lot more than I speak so I cannot claim that I'm fluent although the list of languages may give that impression. I'm not learning German either, e.g. the options here do not fit.
Share: Wisdom of life and a good laugh!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I have no problems in assisting with housekeeping or making dinner. I can also help out with sewing. And give a lecture about Scandinavian/Norwegian history. :o)
