About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Freewheeling around the states, seeking strange landscapes and ideas, collecting stories, experiences, and impressions

ABOUT ME

I'm trying to make the most of my time on this planet. Life is sweet--and every other flavor as well--and I want to taste them all. I love music, dancing (poorly, but I have aspirations), walking, yoga, exploring, adventures, teaching, learning, and sharing. I have a very open mind and I love to laugh. My time and my rock collection are the most precious things I own.

PHILOSOPHY

"Strive to make the spot where you stand beautiful. Then beauty and harmony will follow you in all ways throughout your days."

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have surfed around the west coast and in Mexico (and a little on the east coast). Everyone I have met through CS has been amazing. I always share what I have with my hosts and try to leave their place nicer than I found it. I don't yet have a situation where I can host, but whenever I get to that place, my doors will be open. Participating in CS is truly humbling and a real reminder of the awesome positive power of individuals connecting and sharing.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Stayed right near downtown Tucson with awesome host Jake...that was my first CS experience.

Interests

gardening (vegetables, flowers, herbs, Ruth Stout & Gene Logsdon), writing, cooking, yoga, herbal/alternative medicine, landscapes & our interactions with them, intentional communities, alternative ways of constructing a life, dogs, goats & other ruminants, abandoned places, hiking, exploring the world, Rainbow Gathering, Taos Earthship Biotecture, Burning Man (have not been yet, but want to).

Music, Movies, and Books

I love many kinds of music. Some of my recent favorites include Leonard Cohen, Girl Talk, Gorillaz, Led Zeppelin, Ratatat...I could go on.....I appreciate music that is experimental or that makes me want to move, or that moves me.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I taught in a men's prison in New Mexico for a year. I had the special opportunity to tutor one 30 year old student for several months, in that time teaching him to read and write.

Teach, Learn, Share

I've worked on several farms and homesteads. I just finished a gig teaching in a prison, which I loved. Right now I teach English as a second language to adults. I can share what I know about cooking, nutrition, yoga, gardening; I can give feedback on writing. I want to meet people who will tell me where the hotsprings and caves are or who will introduce me to a new kind of music or food or happening...
