Über mich
Hi! I'm Lana! I was born in the United States to a German mother and a Honduran father. I spent most of my formative years in Germany, elementary school through my high school graduation. I moved to the United States in 2012 to begin my university education. I lived in St. Paul, MN for a while, but eventually transferred and have been living in Iowa the last three years. I studied abroad in Buenos Aires, Argentina and absolutely fell in love with the country. I recently graduated from university with a Quantitative Economics degree. I've had the good fortune of growing up in Europe, so I've been able to travel to so many interesting countries. I am looking forward to my time in the United States as a graduate, I hope to visit all the national parks and meet as many interesting people as I can along the way! Eventually, I plan on going back to school to pursue an Environmental Economics degree with an emphasis in Public Policy.
Warum ich bei Couchsurfing bin
I love meeting new people and having in-depth conversations, I think everyone has something interesting to teach me and I look forward to all the wisdom others can share with me. As a person who often travels solo, Couchsurfing is a great way to meet new people and make connections.
Interessen
My main passions in life are writing, reading, traveling and being outside. A typical day off for me involves at least a 30 mile bike ride, some reading, trying a new recipe and ending my day with a new beer or wine I haven't tried yet. I like to experience new things, I am definitely not a creature of habit. I love doing outdoor activities, like hiking, biking, swimming, kayaking, etc. I one day hope to write a book centered around all of my poetry. I love all animals - spiders, snakes, lizards, hedgehogs, dogs, etc. I like cats but am highly allergic so I can only appreciate from a distance.

Musik, Filme und Bücher
I like all music except for country music really. There are a few songs here and there that I can stand but, in general, it isn't really for me. My karaoke jams are usually Missy Elliott or Notorious B.I.G. songs, my road jams tend to be chill bands and surf rock like Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, Local Natives, FIDLAR, Dum Dum Girls, Bass Drum of Death, Beach Fossils, etc. Growing up with foreign parents, I have a deep affinity for Latin music and weird German music. If you've ever been to Germany, you know Germans have some pretty bizarre stuff sometimes. I will watch any Tarantino movie, Aronofsky, or anything with Daniel Day Lewis in it (to make this super simple). I read all the time, every day, and I tend to gravitate toward non-fiction. Some of the recent books I read (and enjoyed) are Rez Life, Maya's Notebook, The Devil in the White City, Sin in the Second City and The Economic Naturalist. Although I don't always agree with her, I'll read anything by Ayn Rand.
Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe
Backpacked through Patagonia, for sure! I've climbed some pretty awesome mountains. Skydiving might be the most amazing thing I've done... haven't really decided which is better.
Was ich mit Gastgebern teilen kann
A lifetime of interesting experiences, endless puns, random information I have learned from all of my reading, delicious recipes and in-depth economic analyses of things! I have plenty of other things to share but I'm not sure I'd brag about those first.
