Hi there! I am a professional woman with 2 grown kids and a partner. I started my career life out thinking I was going to be an accountant or work in business. By pure fluke I actually ended up taking Civil Engineering. I am actually a Civil Engineering Technologist. I worked the first 18 years of my career doing field work. Lots of materials testing (concrete, asphalt and soils if you want to keep it technical) while foundations were built and many environmental projects as well. I loved the field work and all the people I met. Later I decided I needed a change, so I left and am now a Project Manager for a foundation piling company. It is less field work and more office work. I do miss the field work, but I am ok with it as I was tired of freezing my butt off doing cold weather field work! I love my job and I always promote girls working in STEM (science, Technology, engineering and math) as there are very few women in my field. We need more! My daughter is even following in my footsteps!

I am easy going and am open to new ideas. I am always curious about the world around me and will sit down and chat with others who have stories to tell. I am a straightforward speaker who believes in being fair to everyone. I believe in the motto 'Do unto others ......'.
I make sure I step back to appreciate the world I live in and the friends I have made and kept throughout my life. I appreciate my partner every day and all the things he does for me and the things we do together. I appreciate my kids and the time I spend with them. I am privileged to say I have helped mold them into the loving adults they are today. And lastly, I appreciate the wonderful people I get to meet through Couchsurfing! I strive every day to live a happy life and if I were to die today, I could honestly say that I have lived my life as a good human being and would have very few regrets.

I am Couchsurfing because I am interested in meeting new people. I want to provide the opportunity for my family to see what a big, exciting place our planet is with lots of interesting people. I want to spark their interest to hear about and see the world!

兴趣

I like to camp with my partner, kids and friends. We go Quadding and snowmobiling. We like to try out different places each year so we can see what our province and Canada has to offer.

I am an avid participant at my local gym where I also volunteer to teach classes. This keeps me healthy and happy and I have a great social network of friends there.

I love hot vacations and take 1, 2 or as many trips a year as I can. So far they have only been for a week or tow at a time so I have mostly gone to the Caribbean or somewhere in Mexico. I take the time to soak up the sun and just relax on the beach and enjoy the sounds of the ocean while I people watch!

I also like to snowboard, ski, waterski, boat, hike and many other activities that keep me active.

I am also a crafty and handy person. I am very hands on so if I like something then I will see if it is something I can make myself. I can knit and crochet as well as make quilts. I can cut, saw, and hammer so I build basic items I may want for my house and yard. Give me a plan and I will build it!

I am a Rock & Roll fan! My partner will listen to anything but my daughter likes country music. My son is a rock fan like me.

I like many kinds of movies but horrors are my least favorite.

I read books by Robert Ludlum, James Clavel and I also have numerous romance novels that I take on my hot holidays for easy reading! I am slowly acquiring the classics of the literary world and am making my way through books like 'David Copperfield' and 'Anne Frank'. 'War and Peace' is next on my list...

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I went to work in the Yukon Territory, Canada for one summer. While there I took advantage of opportunities to whitewater raft, canoe, hike and site see. My one amazing thing was to drive up to the border of the Northwest Territories and put a stake in the ground with my name on it and drink a beer while standing there overlooking our beautiful country. It maybe doesn't seem like much but it was an awesome experience that I did by myself. It was the start of the 'adventurer want-to-be' that I am today and hope to continue to be.
