ABOUT ME

I am one of those immigrants that can't necessarily claim a place or culture for their own, but are able to generally fit in when needed. I've got gaps in my education, due to years spent not being sure of the future (geography & history most notably). I want to fill these gaps, but my mind is still overstuffed with grad school/work related knowledge and nothing else sticks. I think best out loud. If ever I tell you something really cool, know that I couldn't have come up with it without your patiently listening. I travel at least once a year. Right now my husband and I are relocating to Portland, Oregon in a very round-about way and can absolutely use every couch we can get.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

So far I have not had a couch of my very own to offer, but I've offered my tent when I could and look forward to offering a couch of my very own to travelers once I settle in in Portland.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I tend to leave the U.S. to go to Europe for camping/music festivals of the heavy/death/doom metal persuasion. During those times I've allowed strangers spend a few nights in my tent as they had nowhere else to go and I needed the warmth anyway.

Interesses

Languages, literature, discussion, CrossFit, Strong(wo)man training, metal shows, meeting with hundreds of other people who share my interest (aka, going to metal shows), walking, traveling, teaching.

Many? In terms of books I am currently on a road trip so I'm listening/reading the Song of Ice and Fire by R.R. Martin, Dresden books by Jim Butcher, and mysteries by Agatha Christie. I think the Kindle is one of the best things that happened to me.

Just recently, competing in a Strongman competition. I've met some really awesome people and I saw men and women do such amazing things that something in my head that stopped me before, was finally shoved aside, and I achieved personal records in just about everything I attempted.

I'd love to learn to cook things, though I am generally nervous that I will ruin everything. I love learning new exercises, and about the strange and awkward objects that I could perhaps lift over my head. I could maybe let others know about the amazing places it's really quite easy to visit all around the world, and maybe recommend some excellent books. I could teach you how to behave in a moshpit.
