About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I don't feel like I have a 'life mission'. Enjoy life? Care for others? Build a better world? Learn the Moonwalk?

ABOUT ME

Well, I like skateboarding, reading, writing, am working in postconflict education, and I like oil and acrylic painting, music, and I prefer literature to self-help books because you can draw your own conclusions more freely.

PHILOSOPHY

I don't believe that there is any meaning to life, but I like to think that we can make lives better by being kind and generous to one another.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Well, I am one of a very few number of couch surfers in Afghanistan, which is always useful. Some of my friends are also hosts in Afghanistan. They get questions like, "Is there a war going on in Afghanistan?" Yes. Yes, there is.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I have never had a couch surfing experience over the web. But I used to sleep at my friend's place in San Francisco and wake up and go skateboarding down the hills, looking out over the ocean, along Taraval Street. Just down the road, if you've ever been to SF, is a delicious pizza place called Brothers Pizza. Check it out.

Interests

Skateboarding, reading, writing, oils, acrylics, old Clint Eastwood westerns, soulful music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Well, here's a wonderous thing: that I and two friends once drove 9 hours to try to go to a place in the center of Bamiyan Province in Afghanistan, along a bumpy rock road in a taxi and somewhere in the middle of the trip we started singing, "New York, New York" by Frank Sinatra. Out there in the midst of Afghanistan in a taxi. Eventually, we had to turn back because the Taliban controlled a crossroads. We never made it out there.

Teach, Learn, Share

For teaching: Poetry writing, short story writing, skateboarding.
For learning: I want to learn Spanish!
