I'm surprised anyone would offer a couch to a stranger and would absolutely take that over a hotel if I get to meet someone local. If its possible, I'd like to get knowledge of a town or city through locals who want the best experience for travelers. I'm not one to bother anyone but if you are willing to share (even briefly) some of your time to point me in the right direction to a good restaurant, event or landmark, that would be truly amazing. I recently traveled alone to Hanoi, Vietnam and as much as I loved being there, it sucked to not know anyone. And so I'm glad for couchsurfing
