About Me

Hi, I am Lara and I am traveling with my best friend Raissa. We met in High School and have been friends since then!! I am truly passionate about cultures and I love to spend time with people from different countries. I think that's the beauty of living. I am a teacher, and I love my job! Teaching has been the way I've been connecting to people and sharing interests in the past 3 years. We get to know and understand people and cultures from all around the world. That's why I'm on this site and why I want to use couchsurfing when traveling the world!

I love to be outside, hiking, biking, swimming and traveling. I also love to be baking and cooking - which I would love to share with you if you want to! :D

Raissa is 29 years old and studied Psychology (now she is studying "English Literature"). We are both English Teachers! Raissa loves music, reading books, a good talk and watching series. We do both love to have a good time, laugh and doing various things!

I have lived for almost 5 years in the United States. Raissa and I just did a backpacking trip to South America, and now we want to embrace the African Continent.

We both LOVE local food and we are up for trying all of it - also with you or your friends if you would like!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been to 9 countries already, and I am always searching for new oppotunities (not only to travel, but also to meet the local people). This year I did a backpacking trip to South America, and so far it has been the most amazing experience in my life. Now, I am searching for a new experience in the south of Africa, especially with Couchsurfing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I love rock music, folk style, and indie. My favorite artists range from Pearl Jam to Aerosmith, The Lumineers to Bon Iver. (But in fact, I like to listen to good music, and I love to get to know the local songs and styles in the countries I visit). I am also a passionate reader. I like all the genres, but romances and narrative non-fiction are my favorites. I like to watch movies, but I have been watching more series lately, such as Brooklyn 99, La Casa de Papel, How to Get Away with Murder, The good place, Friends, etc..

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In my trip to Hawaii, I walked in the lava camp of the Mauna Kea volcano and touched the lava flowing with a stick. Side note: It's the most active volcano in the world!

I have experienced the "no dark day" in Alaska! Pretty cool!

Teach, Learn, Share

I like to teach Languages, so If possible I can always teach some words in Portuguese, English and Spanish. But also, I can help organizing a trips to South America, if my host is interested in. But sure, we can teach you some of the brazilian drienks, such as caipirinha, cook our traditional food, etc. We would love to learn about your city and country as well.

What I Can Share with Hosts

we love animals, but with cats is always love at first sight (I have 5 cats at home by the way). So, if you have a pet, expect tons of love from us towards your pets :)
