About Me

Hey there, nice you are here :-)

I’m Lara (she/her), a social worker and anthropologist from beautiful Freiburg, Germany. Exploring, having good political and especially deep discussions and most important, honest connections is what I love. Besides that, sustainability, (critical) self reflection and an anti-discriminatory attitude in any directions are important values to me. Best way to learn about cultures is through food, the openness to the unknown and the willingness to learn I think! So let’s learn from each others :)

I love to travel because you meet different people, you see and feel the magic of places, you learn alot about the world, different world views and specially about yourself. Traveling means finding and I wish to never stop!

Music, Movies, and Books

Well, my music depends on my moods: i love to dance to afrobeat, chill to hang drum, didgeridoo and tabla and go crazy with trance and techno.

I think HUMAN is the most amazing movie and documentary I've ever seen.

The author Liv Strömquist opens space to understand sarcastically how it is as a person with vulva to live in this patriarchy world and why we are where we are in her great book ‘fruit of knowledge’

Another book I love is ‘Decolonizing the mind’ by Wa Thiong’o Ngugi which should be a lesson of many blind spots for all of us.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Talking to a man during a bus ride who told me about his childhood in slavery in Mozambique and his way to keep on going and smiling in life. Such a wonderful person who totally inspired me.

Watching a leatherback, a beautiful huge creature laying her eggs during a night beach walk under the most amazing sky I've ever seen in Ghana.

Surfing with dolphins and turtles in Brasil.
