About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to see, to experience, to live, to hear, to be, to do, to create

ABOUT ME

I am consumed by wanderlust. A sedentary life is my greatest fear.

I have a constant feeling of nostalgia for a time and place that doesn't exist.

I like to make things with unexpected materials.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have a stable residence for the first time in many years and would love to host guests traveling through the Columbia River Gorge!

I greatly appreciate the kind, generous hosts I've stayed with in the past.

Music, Movies, and Books

Books take up much of my free time. I read anything I can get my hands on any chance I get, especially anything by Tom Robbins and Hermann Hesse. I like informative non-fiction as well as intriguing stories. My favorite fiction as of late is Jitterbug Perfume, Even Cowgirls Get the Blues, Sirens of Titan, Steppenwolf, and A Heartbreaking Work of Staggering Genius.

Music. My all time favorite band is Sigur Rós, but right now I'm also listening to Hauschka, Gayngs, Billie Holiday, Deerhunter, Glasser, Elbow, Netherfriends, Tallest Man on Earth, Dead Man's Bones, DeVotchKa, Wye Oak, Junip, Braids, The Shangri-Las, Julianna Barwick, etc. Obviously too wide a spread to wrap up into one genre, but generally Folk, World Folk, post rock, and experimental.

Teach, Learn, Share

I know quite a bit about music- the music I listen to, the music I create, music theory, and many unusual instruments including auto harp, accordion, banjo and mandolin, as well as piano, drum set, and a minimal knowledge of guitar, trumpet, and others. I also sing Opera, and know quite a bit about classical music and multiple Operas.

Talk to me about anything outdoors-related as well! I am outside as much as possible rafting, camping, backpacking, hiking, kayaking, hammocking, exploring, picnicking, and rock climbing.
