About Me

I'm a 67 year old Male.
I'm a cyclist and am interested in adventure travel of all kinds.
I have toured parts of the U.S. by bicycle and motorcycle. I have backpacked and otherwise hiked in several areas including the Inca trail, Kilimanjaro, the Appalachian Trail and the Grand Canyon. etc.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My best experiences are when I stay with people in their homes and interact with them and it sometimes leads lifelong friendships.
In the past I have used Warm Showers, Motostays and AirB&B.

Interests

Traveling is what I like most. Cycling has been the most rewarding for me, while hiking and motorcycle travel is also rewarding. I prefer travel that puts you in touch with people and nature rather than just the tourist highlights,..although I like to hit those too..

Music, Movies, and Books

All types. There is good music in every genre....and bad too, of course.
Favorite Fiction Authors are John Grisham, James Lee Burke, Michael Connelly, Sue Grafton, and John Sanford.
I also read personal accounts of adventure travel.
Favorite Movies? hhmmm...I"ll have to think about that.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I rode my bicycle, self contained, from St Augustine, Florida to San Diego, California with a friend.
It took 55 days. We rode all but 3 of those days. We stayed with Warm Showers hosts, we camped and only stayed 3 nights in motels.

Teach, Learn, Share

I want to learn about peoples lives, especially those with unconventional lifestyles, and gain new perspectives on living life.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I love to share experiences about Bikepacking and encourage them to try cycling of all types.

Countries I’ve Visited

Canada, Mexico, Netherlands, Peru, Tanzania

Countries I’ve Lived In

United States
