About Me

CURRENT MISSION

My current mission is to be happy with a social awareness. I am adventurous since I play basketball and ride big waves on my boogie board. My main serious concern is human overpopulation.

ABOUT ME

I am an experienced traveler who has learned that the best education is traveling. I am patient, relaxed, and really concerned about the future of life on this little planet. You can be anywhere on it tomorrow.
I believe I am a socially concerned environmentalist.

I exercise an hour each day. I try to stay fit. I can drink a little socially but don't prefer bars. I find more value seeing the sights, listening, and exercising.

PHILOSOPHY

Be happy and try to be kind and respectful to everyone. I am very concerned about human overpopulation. I try to be an environmentalist and drive as little as reasonable.
I really would like to know about the origins of the universe so let me know if you find out anything - anything I can see as proof, that is. I was born in Kentucky which is near Missouri (the "Show Me" state).

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I signed up about July of 2010. We have 3 bedrooms in a townhouse, but they are all full now. Maybe later I can host a couchsurfer. We have hosted people from at least 15 countries with some staying for many months. None of them were from CS but some were strangers off the street (and great visitors they were).
We are members of SERVAS which is similar to CS but requires an interview and more money to get lists of hosts. You can check my listing if you have a SERVAS host book for San Diego.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Good experience staying at a few places in Europe in 2010.

Interests

Basketball, boogie boarding, politics, swimming, riding a bike, TV, eating, reading the news, horseracing, beaches, the environment, oh just about everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

I am 10 years behind on movies. Some of my movie favorites are or were Forest Gump, Terminator, Fargo, Waterboy, Space Cowboys, Dumb and Dumber, Jaws, and Gone With the Wind. Been hooked on "Survivor" since the beginning.
I like rock and roll. I go to the Del Mar Fair every year to see at least 6 famous bands I have never seen. I don't read much except for the Internet but it has lots of information in newspapers. I find reality so much more interesting and strange.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

In 1986 I traveled completely around our little planet for 1 year. I saw lots of amazing animals while snorkeling and scuba diving (NAUI and PADI certified). Fiji had the most diversified snorkeling, but fishing and Ko Pe Pe Beach were great in Thailand. I was charged by sharks in Thailand and a Brahma bull in India. I have walked up Mt. Whitney (only 14,496 feet and the Anapurna base camp, 13,200 feet or so). The base camp is surrounded by some of the highest mountains which were beautiful with snow scenes. I have seen the most beautiful beaches in many places.

I suppose the most amazing thing was getting degrees in Business and Law with little studying. Passing the California Bar exam the first time was amazing since I was not from California.
One thing I enjoy is riding big waves on my boogie board. I have looked down from 35 feet (about 10 meters) from the top of the crest to the trough below. Pretty cool but backed off realizing it was closing out and I was not real stupid.
Since I have almost 20/15 corrected vision, the whole world is amazing to me.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am wise enough to know my limits. I have tried to learn a lot about everything but seem to know a little about everything.
I suppose I know a lot about the US. OK, I know a lot about basketball, riding waves, traveling, and mechanics since I am mechanically minded. I know about an athletic diet and have a fairly healthy lifestyle while consuming some junk food. I try to keep up with science in many fields.

I know this question requests my knowledge but I am hesitant to lecture others about anything since I know everyone has some knowledge, skills, and good qualities.
