ABOUT ME

I just turned 65 this summer and have been retired from state government (NH) for over ten years now. Ten years ago I purchased a small horse farm (13 acres) in western NY state. Though I do not keep any horses I do maintain the pastures and woods. I keep myself busy on the "farm" as there is always something that needs doing. I am divorced and have one son who lives in Texas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I joined the CS experience in 2008. My brother has used the experience and recommended that I try it out. I am looking forward to both surfing and hosting.

Interests

I have a variety of interest from stream walking, photography, astronomy and baseball. I have written five books, all available on line at Lulu. I live in the Finger Lakes area of NY -- home to some of the best wines in the world. Within a 30 mile radius of my house (as a crow flies) - there must be at least 100 wineries, all offering samples of there talents for free or a minimum charge. I am also about 2.5 hours from Niagara Falls and 1 hour from the Corning Glass Museum and Museum of Western Art (Corning, NY). My area offers four seasons of activities.

Music, Movies, and Books

Most of the time soft jazz will be playing through out the day in my house - though I have no problems listening to other styles of music. Reading is something I do sparingly -- mostly mysteries. As for movies -- anything but horror - yes I am a scaredy cat.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The truly one amazing thing I have seen -- WAR -- I do not recommend it to anyone.
