ABOUT ME
I don't like to talk about myself that much. I enjoy color and design and when strangers talk to me at the grocery store.
PHILOSOPHY
I'm working on it.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
unfortunately haven't hosted much lately. I just moved from the house I owned into a much smaller rental and we don't have everything set up quite yet. happily, my much smaller rental has a much much larger yard, so hopefully by the summertime I'll be able to host people who might be interested in helping out on my little vegetable, flower, and hops "farm".
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
A friend and I surfed with several people in the Austin, Texas area. Everyone was extremely nice and giving and really enthusiastic about where they lived. I figured since I'm really enthusiastic about where I live, I should sign up to host. I have now hosted several people at my house and stayed with several people, and I really enjoy it.
Interests
I am a bartender at my neighborhood punk rock bar. My current obsession is brewing my own beer. I'm growing hops this year for the first time. I love flower & vegetable gardening, and am glad to help anyone with anything related to that. I love to cook, and especially enjoy cooking for other people. I'm interested in that whole 'local food' movement thing - I used to do a vegetarian cooking and food related radio talk show. I like to see bands play. I'm a big fan of camping, except for the day I camped 16 miles up a mountain in the middle of nowhere, Utah and it was too wet to make a good fire and it was like 40 degrees at night and there were bears around and I could hear coyotes howling and there was a full moon. Then I slept in the car. I guess I'm not the outdoor adventurer I wish I was. Other interests: beer, environmentalism, studying plants, general self-improvement, spending time in the produce aisle, pretending I can play drums, knitting and making stuff, learning new card games, embracing my hillbilly roots, non-technology, ridiculous pseudo-philosophical conversations, obsessing over having my comments form a perfect rectangle, mid-century modern furniture, design and color, baseball, coffee, and anything amusement park related. I have a cat named Zeke and a silly looking basset hound mix named Susie Creamcheese. They will be nice to you.

Music, Movies, and Books
I grew up on punk rock and related music. My latest obsession is all ELO, all the time (Eldorado, a concept album about the Wizard of Oz - totally ridiculous), and cheesy disco and glam rock, which I don't know nearly enough about (that one Sweet record is actually really good). Constant fan of 70's/80's weirdo obscure post punk 7" records. When I feel nostalgic I like the Roy Orbison. I never get sick of Ariel Pink. I like country music, good and bad. Mostly bad. I actually really like "Rhinestone Cowboy", and have an obsession with 70's/80's truck driving culture. I go to the library and get books for free, except I always return them late and then have to pay fines. If I had a favorite movie, it would probably be Repo Man.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I had a child when I was 19, and she turned out to be a very enjoyable person to spend my life with. I guess I must have done something right.
Teach, Learn, Share
I would be glad to teach you to cook, or to knit, or about gardening, or anything else I know about.
