CURRENT MISSION

After travelling through 78 countries between the two of us, we have decided that Finnmark is the best. We are now learning about this great area. OLDER: To quit the rat race and do what we want to do - travel and learn things beyond banking and teaching.

ABOUT ME

After living in Malaysia and OZ/NZ for a while, and travelling/CouchSurfing for years, we have decided to dump our non-European residency status everywhere else and we're now finally settling down for good - in Norway. We have already transferred our taxes and qualifications so it's looking quite serious...

We love Finnmark, its nature and expecially the people. It's time to learn new skills and decide what we want to do as 'New Norwegians'. By moving here, we are obviously trying our best not to return to investment banking (Lina) and European Parliament ESL teaching (Ota). It's time to see if we can enjoy non-career based lifestyle that will bring us closer to the local nature, closer to the local way of thinking. We believe it's going to be truly rewarding.

Let us first settle down somewhere near Kirkenes (currently deciding which area we like the most), then come and CouchSurf with us!

UPDATE: DONE! We got ourselves a sustainable lifestyle cottage right outside of Kirkenes (with a fresh water spring and out of the window fishing access). Quite happy with the property and the area so we will be calling it our semi-permanent base. Not that we are going to travel less! Anyway, feel free to pop by - simply request our couch (or the spare bedroom if you don't mind bed surfing) and we will either pick you up when you arrive or give you easy yet precise driving directions to "our" fjord..

Ota→ Travelling, meeting interesting people, domaining (and the net in general), conversing/debating, reading, mountain biking, swimming and (thanks to Lina's #1 hobby) now also offroading.

Una cosa incredibile che ho fatto

Lina→ Owning a rare two-door Land Cruiser (fully modified for hard core offroading and worth about three Kuala Lumpur houses) at a fairly young age. Many of my MALE offroad buddies are significantly older and yet most of them still only dream about Land Cruisers... :-)

Ota→ 1) Travelling a lot and learning about different people and their culture in 68 countries, 2) Finding Lina (as you see, I simply couldn't have chosen one thing only as without the first one, the second thing would have never happened).

Together→ Seeing the infamous Northern Lights (a few times); driving from Kirkenes to Vardo during a seriously blinding snow storm, the one that left some oastal properties covered in snow all the way to their chimneys... trying to spot the original directon of the road deep beneath us while rushing to join the international snow fight in Vardo - oh, what fun!
