How to find more time for my passion: ultrarunning
ABOUT ME
My new passion is ultrarunning - distances longer than a standard 26.2 mile marathon. Been doing it seriously for a few years, and it has been a revelation and a joy. Have met a whole new bunch of amazing, incredible people doing this thing. Lots of time out doors, on trails, and lots of long weekends traveling to events. There's nothing like an ultra weekend to make you really feel like you've "seized the day"!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Not sure yet: I'm a newbie. Hosted a cool Spanish guy who was teaching gestalt psychology here in the US, and we had a good time. Seems like a good thing to pursue, plus, I've been traveling frequently for races and it would be more interesting to stay somewhere that wasn't a motel

Music, Movies, and Books
Lately, I saw "Into Great Silence", about the monks at the Grande Chartreuse monastery in the French Alps. Somehow, the act of viewing the film became a meditation that mirrored the monks' daily rituals. It seemed to me to be a perfect application of film-making craft: where the structure of the film induced the actual experience of the content.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Running 100 miles on a tough course. 80 miles into the race and gently hallucinating as the sun rises on the second day - "amazing" is what the world has become.
Teach, Learn, Share
Well, we can play a little music together. For my part, guitar and percussion, and there's a piano here, too.
We can talk about the qualities of visible light - is that esoteric enough?
