About Me

Hey!

My name is Laura and I'm a 23 years old girl from Santiago de Compostela (Galicia, Spain).

I adore dancing (contemporary, salsa, bachata...) and having fun in any way. I also really like hiking and almost anything that has to do with nature.
I have a beautiful dog named Nima and two cats, Elsa and Olaf. I’m vegan and I love animals in general, so if you too are an animal lover, I’d really like to meet you.

I also adore learning new things, no matter what it is. I enjoy crafting, trying sports, watching movies or series, trying different foods, learning the basis for playing an instrument, finding out new music types or singers I didn't know before...

When I was 16, I spent one year living in the United States with a mormon family. While I was there, I met a lot of interesting people, I learnt about their religion, I tried some of their typical food and cooked some Spanish meals. I got to attend an American High School, I did theater, I played the piano in the school's choir, I travelled to Zion's National Park, to Las Vegas and to New York, I went to High School dances, I met people from different parts of the world, I learnt to say oh my God in Chinese, I skied for the first time, I did a lot of gorgeous hikes, and so on.
This experience not only changed me as a person, but it also taught me that, trough people, you can travel a lot further than any plane can take you. Participating in other culture's way of living, trying their food, living their traditions and trying to understand the way they see the world made me grow so much as a person. It also showed me that people are often nicer than we expect them to be and that you don't really know a place until you meet the people who live there.

I'm always happy to debate about anything with anyone, since I find every conversation can teach you something about the topic you're talking about or about the person you're talking to and the way he or she sees life.

I'm also a dreamer; I think we can all make a change in the world if we really work for it. That's why I'm an activist in several animal rights organizations and I volunteer in Greenpeace and some organizations here that help children. I believe there's nothing more dangerous than settling down thinking that nothing we do is going to have an actual impact, since that totally sabotages any posibility of making this world a better place.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm in Couchsurfing because I find it's both a great way to meet people and to travel in a way that allows you to actually get to know the culture of the place you're travelling to and the city you're in.

I think you can't really feel you're part of a city unless you live in it for a while or you have someone who has lived in it for a while and is willing to show you the secrets of it.

Also, I just love meeting people in general and learning not only about their culture, but also about their story, what they've learnt through the years and how they see life.

So yeah, I would LOVE to meet you if you come to Santiago or if I visit your city!

Music, Movies, and Books

I'm really bad at picking favorites and when I do, they usually don't last long, so I'm not even going to try. I just love any song with nice lyrics, no matter the style, or any song that makes me feel something, any film that tells a good story in a way that makes you feel it's real and any book that makes you want to keep reading it for hours non stop.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've raised the smartest cat in the world and I've done the Angels Landing Trial.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I think I'm a polite and respectful girl. I understand everyone has their own rules at their homes and the least couchsurfers can do is respecting those rules. I clean after myself and I'm a quiet person.

I think I'm a good listener and I also love to talk, so I think we could have a lot of interesting conversations about many different topics. Also, I'm a happy and energetic person, I love trying new experiences, talking about them and hearing other people's stories and what interesting things they have done or seen so far.
