ABOUT ME

I am an English grad student at Leiden University, though originally I hail from Brussels, Belgium. Even though I am a city girl, I love the outdoors: hiking in particular (it's a pain that in order to get to those beautiful places, you often need to leave the Netherlands).

I am very active. I like to get up very early, have a coffee, browse the internet etc. I think people who sleep past noon miss out on the best part of the day! That said once in a while I make an exception and stay up late, engage in conversation, or get into trouble any way I can.

I like to meet locals whenever I'm travelling. It's the best way to learn about a place's history and culture.

I love reading. My idea of a perfect holdiday is a bag full of books. Being a student of English, I read English novels mostly, but whenever anything good comes out in Dutch, I will give that a chance as well.

I read most popular books like Twilight, the Hunger Games and the Millenium series, because even though I may not like all of them, I do like talking about books.

Some of my favourite writers are: Julian Barnes, Ursula Le Guin, Jeffrey Eugenides and Vladimir Nabokov.

Walked the West-Highland Way, one of the most beautiful long distance trails in Scotland. I never knew my feet could hurt so much.
