About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Learn Hindi and Urdu! I dream of being fluent in either one day.

ABOUT ME

I am a college graduate who works as a translator/interpreter/transcriber for a non-profit organization. I like being a student and learning different languages. I grew up in Brooklyn and loved going to Coney Island as a kid. I aspire to learn at least 8 languages during my lifetime and to travel as much of the world as possible. I also dream of seeing an Aurora Borealis one day.

PHILOSOPHY

The Secret.

Also, live and let live. :)

Music, Movies, and Books

I like a lot of different genres of music (rock, Nueva trova, electro, folk) sung in Spanish from Latin America: Caifanes, Jaguares, Soda Stereo, Gustavo Cerati, Aterciopelados, Totó la Momposina, Mercedes Sosa, Silvio Rodriguez, Chambao (Spain), Manu Chao, Carlos Vives, Estados Alterados, Federico Aubele, Bebe, Bomba Estéreo. Since my family's Colombian I gotta like Vallenato!

I love just about every Putumayo World Music album that's come out.

I also dig St. Lucia, Austra, Grimes,Tame Impala!, some Kendrick Lamar, 'Levis' by Qntal, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Cocteau Twins, Dead Can Dance, Clan of Xymox, "Motorbike" by Sheep on Drugs, "Things to Come" by Informatik, Beach House, Cults, Pink Floyd, Incubus, Joy Division, Smashing Pumpkins, random Bollywood songs.

If I want to chill and relax I listen to Brazilian music with artists such as Bebel Gilberto and Céu.

Random songs I like in German: 'Am Fenster' by City, 'Nur leben' by Melotron, 'Amerika' by Rammstein, 'Engelstaub' by In Strict Confidence, "Speicherbar' by And One.

I listened to a lot of metal in high school and part of college, now I just listen to Opeth once in a while.

If I am biting my nails trying to finish a paper/report/translation I will tune to Vivaldi or a Yoga music station on Pandora.

Book: The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho

Movies: The Reluctant Fundamentalist, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, Los Viajes del Viento, Das Fahrrad (1982), Gegen die Wand.

Teach, Learn, Share

I like teaching and tutoring Spanish since it's my first language (and favorite).

I love learning phrases in other languages and new yoga poses. I am still trying to learn how to salsa by following the rhythm.
