I think that staying with locals is the best way to get immersed in a place and a culture.
I have been travelling this way all my life, both in Spain and in foreign countries and now I can't imagine a trip without getting to know people and spending time with them everywhere I go.

Get lost in Rome when I was a kid. It took me one hour to find my parents but in this short time I cried more than in the rest of my life.
Not because I was a little girl lost in a city I don't know nor because I didn't understand the language. The reason was I thought my parents had gone to the restaurant to eat all the pizza without me.

Watching the stars from the middle of the Mediterranean Sea. Without any lights or people disturbing.
