About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Living and teaching English in other countries.

ABOUT ME

My parents are both from Iowa and moved to Massachusetts when my dad did a Masters in Architecture at Harvard. They wanted to move back after he finished but ended up staying in Massachusetts. I definitely consider Boston and Massachusetts my home. I grew up in the same town my whole life and even went to university in my town. Despite that I always knew I would live and travel a lot abroad. I studied for a year in Rennes my junior (3rd) year and was hooked. I loved discovering a new city and meeting new people. I decided to teach English as an assistant for a year after I graduated. I then went to Le Mans. I taught elementary school kids ages 6-11. I am now living in Rennes again to do a Master's in Francais Langue Etrangere (Teaching French as a Foreign Language). This way I'll be able to teach English and French in other countries.

PHILOSOPHY

I like to live a healthy stress-free life.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I've been with Couchsurfing for about a year and a half. I started by going to meetings and meeting people through a good friend that was a part of couch surfing. Once I had a place where I could host, I started hosting people. As you can see I host much more than I actually surf but I'm hoping to do some more surfing in the near future.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've met lots of different people, through hosting some that have even become good friends. I enjoy the spirit of Couchsurfers and meeting them wherever I happen to be.

Interests

I've been playing the viola since 4th grade (age 9). I've always played in a group of some size (2-150 people). Learning languages is another interest of mine. I speak French almost bilingually, and learned some German in college. I took one semester of Spanish in college and can understand some Spanish. I would like to learn Arabic (I already know the alphabet) In college I discovered yoga and have been doing it with different levels of regularity since. I also like to bake (cookies, cake etc). Any time I have vacation that is one of the first things I do. I also sew, cross-stitch and crochet. I've made, bookmarks, scarves and a duvet cover among other things. I like going to the ocean and I also like to canoe when I can.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like lots of classical music but I like most music I listen to.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I visited Pointe du Raz which is the western-most point of Brittany. It is a jagged-granite cliff with the ocean below. It is amazingly beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

I am a teacher by profession so I definitely like teaching people and sharing the place I am living and learning about people.

Countries I’ve Visited

Austria, Germany, Hungary, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In

France, Poland, South Korea, United States
