About Me

I've just graduated as a Social Worker. Now I'm travelling for 4 months (India, Malaysia, Singapore) before heading to Australia on a working holiday visa. I love to hike or try any outdoor activity really. I'm veggie but I love love love to eat good food and try new things. Especially after a day in the mountains or at street markets in new countries with new friends. I'm trying couch surfing for the first time to open up my travel experience by meeting new people (which always brings a wealth of different experiences) and staying in different areas.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm giving couch surfing a go for the first time to give me a new challenge and a different travel experience. I'm excited to meet new people, stay in areas that I might not usually have considered and hopefully be introduced to new activities/food/ideas/friends. I hope I can share my travel experience and love of good food and good conversation so that both of us have a great time and I can return the favour once I have a home/base for me to offer as a host.

Interests

Reading: I love reading classics and I'd say 'A Clockwork Orange' is one of my favourite books. Any book about spirituality, nature or mountains will usual catch my attention too. I am such a sucker for a second hand book store which is a real issue when travelling with a backpack and a 15kg luggage allowance!

Hiking and the outdoors: I get out walking nearly every weekend when at home in the UK. I love exploring the Yorkshire Dales, the Lake District and the Peak District, which are all relatively close to me. I'm always up for camping/ sleeping outdoors. Nothing refreshes your soul more than falling asleep breathing fresh midnight air! I'm also a fan of wild swimming... whatever the temperature. Being outdoors just makes me feel alive. I tried stand up paddle boarding for the first time this summer and I'm not too bad in a kayak but im always up for trying new activities and learning new skills.

Eating: I'm vegetarian (for ethical/environmental/personal reasons) but I'm a farmers daughter (I know, ironic!) so I'm not fussy and I'm a big eater! I think a big part of travelling and understanding different cultures comes from experiencing different foods. I love eating at local restaurants or even better... Street markets! My favourite food is Italian, Thai and Indian ♡♡♡

Dancing/socialising/drinking/going out: I can never say no to a beer. I'm happy to chat over a few drinks and good food or dance like nobody's watching in a club :)

Music, Movies, and Books

My music taste is quite eclectic: modern pop/charts, mod, 60's 70's brit pop, blues, rock and roll, indie

I'm such a book worm but a few of my favourites are:
Anthony Burgess- A Clockwork Orange
Charlotte Bronte- Jane Eyre
Jane Austen- Any! (Guilty pleasure!)
Louise Hay- You can heal your life
Alastair Humphreys- Microadventures
Maggie O'Farrel- The hand that first held mine

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've been very blessed to see and do lots of amazing things but if I had to pick one it would be the one that made me feel most alive and that would be walking 70 miles of the south west coast of England with my mum; camping, living out of our rucksacks, cooking on our stoves and wild swimming :) happy days.

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm happy to share travel stories, attempt to chat in Spanish or cook together and share our cultural/favourite foods

What I Can Share with Hosts

I'd love to get to know each other, chat about our travel experiences, passions, ideas about life and funny stories over a beer and some good local food.. so hopefully you would enjoy that as much as me! I can teach you to cook a few British dishes or we can just have fun cooking up some tasty food :)
