Hey there, Lauren here, a 20 year old student from sunny Scotland! I am originally from a small village next to the north sea but moved to Glasgow to study in 2012 and am loving it. I enjoy going out with friends to gigs, bars and cafes. I really want to see more of the world (hence why i'm on here) and meet amazing people. My logic is that it's silly to go straight into a job that you are going to be doing for the next 70 years straight after uni so I want t travel for at least five years and find my favorite place in the world! Forever an optimist.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My friend Robyn and I are going on a amazing trip of a lifetime this summer. We are spending 5 weeks in May in Perth as part of an elective placement so are looking for locals to show us around and clue us in on the best places to eat, drink and see :). After we have finished placement the fun really begins and we are off to the east coast to go backpacking for a month. We are looking for the same here really some good local knowledge (staying in places like sydney, coffs harbour, brisbane, cairns, nimbin, noosa, byron bay, surfers paradise) and maybe a couple of places to stay if dollars are tight :). We are fun loving lasses who will chip in with cleaning and cooking (I am amazing at baking..Robyn not so much). After that the adventure continues in thailand for my 21st! Really stoked to meet some amazing aussies and have an amazing time getting to know new people!

Interests

I have quite a few interests mainly crafty ones like sewing, baking and crocheting (yes I sound like an 80 year old women). I also enjoy traveling and going off the beaten track on wee adventures and long road trips. Lover of tea, red velvet cake and the sun. I use to go sailing alot when I was younger and loved it and would like to try surfing and kayaking when I visit Australia and perhaps sea fishing?!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music wise I love listening to new music suggested by others and going to local gigs (something I'm hoping to do in Oz). I quite like indie pop music and have seen bands such as Kasabian, Arctic monkeys, smashing pumpkins, blink 182 but I can really listen to anything from bach to the beatles.

Movies..well my go to is netflix for flims, I like action films and dark comedies not a big fan of horror.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I survived working in retail for four years. Ever since the age of 16 I have had a part time job in retail which gradually chipped away at my soul. I managed to escape and now work in a bar at weekends.

Teach, Learn, Share

as I said before I am a mean baker so could teach you some scottish recipies like empire biscuts. I also love to sew and can crochet too :) you never know you might get a new hat or tea cosy.
