About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Experience.

ABOUT ME

I love this earth, its people, its nature, everything it has to offer. The things that are most amazing to me are the things that bring us all together as global citizens, but I also love and embrace that which makes us different. I have always loved learning about other peoples' cultures and languages. I believe that the best way to help the people of our world, no matter where they are economically, geographically, socially, is to make our earth healthier and that is what I hope to dedicate my life to one day.

PHILOSOPHY

One time my abuelita told me, "todo tiene su bellesa," in English "everything has its beauty." This is how I've viewed the world ever since and I hope that everyone can look for the beauty in things rather than what makes it ugly or bad.
I also have my own saying, "it's ok, it'll just turn into a tan." Living in sunny Texas this saying started off as a very literal reassurance for my friends and family suffering from sun burn, but it's turned into a metaphor for "time heals all wounds." Plus, who doesn't want to be tan?!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Right now I'm unable to offer a couch. However, I'll be looking for some couches on a road trip back to TX after my current position in NH ends at the end of October.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Thus far my only couchsurfing experience has been in France as I spent a week or so exploring on my own.

Interests

I love being outdoors! I don't care if it's hot or cold, flat or hilly, take me there! I also love FOOD! It brings people together like magic. You can learn about a region's environment, culture and so much more through food, plus it's delicious! I'm full of energy and want to see all that I can, but I highly value my relaxation time and am very laid-back.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies: Gladiator, Wall-E, Pan's Labyrinth
I love so much music, from jazz to rock to salsa and everything in between.
I love reading, too. Sure, there are crappy books out there, but I can easily find captivating reads. Hand me a graphic novel, a book of poems, whatever, I'll try it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The most amazing experience I've been a part of was during the 2010 World Cup. I was staying in Mexico City at the time and watched the France v. Mexico match with a couple of my cousins at the Zocalo (a huge plaza in the historical center of the city). Thousands of people watched the game as a part of the FIFA Fan Fest. Do you remember that game? Mexico won, it was kind of a big deal. After the game was won the crowd (and I mean a BIG crowd) paraded down the streets singing patriotic songs, waving flags and just being proud of their country. It was BEAUTIFUL to see so many people so happy to be who they are. But, I'm a total sucker for that kind of stuff.

Teach, Learn, Share

The most important things I've learned from others are things that they didn't even know they had to teach, so how about we just have a conversation over some...food, maybe??
