ABOUT ME

Soy Lorena! Creative, imaginative, and lover of language. Kebab fiend. Tea kinda girl. If my nose isn't buried in a book, I'm probably looking for a new one. I'm an identical twin, a runner, a teacher, and a food exterminator. Laid back and non-judgemental. Queer, and I like people who are cool with that. If you've got time to say racist, sexist, homophobic, or otherwise generally hateful/ignorant mess, I haven't got time for you. I love to go to shows and if I haven't spent all my money on grub, I've spent it on tickets to get me front row for the next amazing musical experience. (Come to shows with me!)
On a quest to express myself in Spanish like I can in English, and teach others the joy of doing the same.

I studied abroad my sophomore year of college in Murcia, Spain and that has changed everything. In fact, I liked it so much, I spent the next two years combing the interwebz for another way to get back, and this time get paid! I found the perfect match: teaching English as an Auxiliar de Conversación. This time, I'm in Madrid and doing what I love (teaching) while doing what I love (speaking Spanish!)

Right now, I'm applying for jobs and traveling most weekends. But send me a message if you're in town and if I'm in between music festivals and trips 'round Spain we can chill! I live in Malasaña/Chueca so I'm near lots of cool spots.

Interests

Reading, running, and finding new music. Cooking (and collecting recipes from all different cultures). EATING. Feminism, Queer stuff, artsy type stuff. I'm my happiest when I'm front and center at a show with music pumping through my heart and soul. Español por supuesto.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: My favourites are indie rock, electronic, and generally anything I can dance to. Notably: Bright Eyes, Brand New, Death Cab For Cutie, Paramore, Arctic Monkeys, Pretty Lights, Calle 13, Eisley, Brett Dennan, First Aid Kit, Lana del Rey, Marina & the Diamonds, fun./The Format, Lupe Fiasco, Bassnectar, Best Coast, Metric, Taking Back Sunday, Vampire Weekend, Drake, Beyoncé, ... I could literally go on forever. I like almost all kinds of music and I am constantly looking for new 'beats to listen to.
Books: are my life. My favourites are The Time Traveler's Wife and The Book Thief, but I also love the Harry Potter Series, The Things They Carried, and anything by Ray Bradbury.
Movies: Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I've seen entire, hundred-foot statues, after months of creation and work, burned to the ground for the simple thrill of it. (Las Fallas - Valencia). This is why I love los españoles.
