ABOUT ME

We found ourselves in a rare situation- we're neither in school nor do we have jobs, so we're off to Europe for two months. When we return we will continue graduate school and dancing (Lauren) and starting a company (Jake). Hence the temporary suspension of reality. We are a couple in our late twenties; we're curious about food, camping, art, and meeting passionate people. We met in Colorado, while Lauren was pursuing her MFA in Dance and Jake was working for an investment bank.
About us in a sentence:
Lauren: Fearless pursuer of a life imagined and tireless observer of daily movements.
Jake: The courage of a rodeo clown, and the wardrobe to match.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

We would be happy to host in our Boston apartment starting in Fall, 2010. For now, we are in transition/traveling.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None professionally (through this site). Many amongst our friends and relatives throughout the world.

Interests

Anything can be interesting with the right attitude! We are interested in hidden gems in a city, the major attractions, and anything in between. We can make an afternoon out of a rainy day in a coffee shop or hit a major museum

Music, Movies, and Books

Too many to mention. Currently, Jake is reading Mary Karr's poetry and Desert Solitaire. Lauren is reading Flow: The Psychology of Optimal Experience and the sequel to Eat Pray Love (though she cringes to put that in writing).

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Lauren has been to Machu Picchu, worked in Costa Rica and traveled to France, Senegal and Omaha. Jake has been to refugee camps in Burma, traveled throughout Argentina, and seen a bear attack a deer in his backyard. But our most amazing things are yet to be seen...

Teach, Learn, Share

We have tons to share! Lauren can talk about dance, the pedagogy of play, and how to create a performance using fourteen dancers, ten pieces and one awesome warehouse. Jake will talk your ear off about building a concept into a company, why the world needs entrepreneurs, and why education in America is about to be transformed.
