Hello all 👋🏼!

We are Lauri and Liina, a married couple currently living in Helsinki 🇫🇮. We have been living here for over 4 years, but have started hosting actively in Jan 2025 👀. We believe that hospitality is one of the most important things in the human experience, and we are really looking forward to meeting new people and sharing with them 🫂! 👨🏼‍🎓Lauri is currently working as a PhD researcher in theology after serving 7 months as a pastor in a local lutheran parish ✝️. Liina does her MA studies in folkloristics and in summer works at the Linnanmäki amusement park ✍🏼🎡.

🐈‍⬛🐈We have two wonderful and kind cats, Reha and Tupli. They got their Estonian-inspired names based on our adventures volunteering in Estonia years back 🇪🇪. They also welcome you to stay with us 🫶🏼!

Please note that we prefer hosting guests only for 1 or 2 nights. 3 nights is sometimes possible but usually not.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Being active on this platform has been in our minds for years 🗓️. In the end of 2024, we visited a Taizé meeting in Tallinn and experienced so much hospitality and had many meaningful encounters with people all around the world 🙏🏼; We thought, why wouldn't we continue this spirit of hospitality and sharing also in our day-to-day life here in Helsinki? This is why we want to open our home, give and receive 🤗.

Music, Movies, and Books

🎵 We play in a symphony orchestra (Lauri trombone 🎺 and Liina viola 🎻), so we really enjoy classical music as well as 70´s prog rock (especially Lauri) 🧑🏼‍🎤.

📚 We also enjoy all kinds of literature all over the world. Lauri has been reading the classic authors through the centuries while Liina has an impressive selection of Garfield comics 💡.

📺 Our daily routines include watching TV series together, and the one(s) we are most enthusiastic about through the years is Star Trek🖖🏻. We also love everything related to cats 😻.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

🎺 Lauri: last year I put up an Octoberfest brass band with my friends, and we had really fun gigs playing with lederhosen on!🇩🇪

🎻 Liina: After networking with the viola pedagogy teacher of Sibelius Academy I got invited to play in Le nozze di Figaro as a paid violist. That was one of the coolest projects I have had the honour to take part 🙌🏼!

Teach, Learn, Share

We can share and teach you a lot about Finnish culture and language, sauna etc 🧖🏼‍♂️. We also have a lot to share about for example music and all of our other interests 🎶🖖🏼🎢!
