À propos de moi

Spent most of my life in Lithuania, studied music and used the skills I learned there to make a living and spread my love for Old-time American music for a while.
During my college years I also spend one year in Stockholm, working some cleaning-related jobs and busking on my free time. Learned a lot there, some harsh lessons as well.
For 3 months a lived in Morocco, Essaouira learning some french, getting to know the locals, enjoying the sun. Definitely a lovely place to go on a vacation.
Sometime after college I met my future wife. A year passed, we moved to Estonia.
Here I worked in one IT company as a service desk specialist, learning some coding on my free time.
After a year in that company, I moved to a different one, where I work as a data engineer at the moment.
The funny thing is that I work in the same team with my wife now! So we see each other basically 24/7.
Anyway.
In my free-time...
- I play a lot of american pool (pocket billiards).
- Go cycling on my gravel/endurance bike.
- Listen to talk shows and podcasts like "Rebel Media", "Rubin Report", "Joe Rogan Podcast", "JBP", etc.
- I'm also a big fan of literature, do a lot of reading in the evenings. At least try to.
- Learning Estonian is an important thing for me, love the local people and culture, want to show respect and appreciation.
- Trying to keep fit with calisthenics.
- Some indoor rock climbing in the local university sports hall.
And some other stuff... I'm sure we can discuss this topic if our paths cross :)

Pourquoi je suis sur Couchsurfing

I find it a lot more meaningful to stay at someone else's place when visiting a country than some random hotel.
That way I get to meet people that become an important part of the experience of visiting that country.
Also a great chance to have discussions and debates with various people around the world.
Sure is a welcome change to the usual daily routine to have interesting people visiting me and my wife in Tartu as well.

Centres d'intérêt

Love hikes, footbag, literature, philosophy, sociology, psychology, american pool, cycling.. Deeply interested in eastern and western philosophy, eastern religions. I like working, moving, doing stuff. Don't really like relaxing and idle chit chat. Self development is one of the most important things in life. Greatest virtues - flexibility, versatility, responsibility.

Morceaux de musique, films et livres

Since I'm a musician I really have found great music in all genres. One of the I particularity love is traditional music of any kind. Be it bluegrass from america, klezmer from the Jewish tradition, Hindu devotional music or Persian folk. Love the purity of those building blocks which are mixed and mached in modern music. I love progressive metal, metalcore as well. Classical music is very pleasant, especially the quirky stuff.

I've been reading books all my life. Bought hundreds of used books and read them all. So I can definitely talk about literature =]

Can't say I like movies too much. Absolutely love Studio Gibli movies though. I prefer video games since you're more involved then.

Une aventure extraordinaire que j'ai vécue

I don't think I've done anything particularly amazing, yet I try to live my life as best as I can, help other people along the way and don't do anyone any harm. I'd say finally gathering enough courage to visit the dentist after many years was quite amazing from my own perspective haha.
Update: got married, made a baby, pretty high on the list as well!

Enseignez, apprenez, partagez

Well I can definitely teach guitar, music theory, rhythmic stuff. I can tell you a lot about religion, philosophy, psychology, personal development. I'm willing to learn anything that makes me more whole and informed as a person. I'm ready to share the knowledge and information I have accumulated over the years if I see that the person is interested.

Ce que j'aimerais partager avec mes hôtes

First of all I am not afraid of work, I have a good working ethic. I can fix things, help with chores, carry stuff, watch the children, educate them. I'm also an entertainer, I can fill the home with music. In general I can share my knowledge and my energy with kind people. Can also do piercings and dreadlocks if needed ;)
