About Me

What's up my fellow couchsurfers? I'm working with risk model in a bank (yes it is as boring as it sounds). I love the outdoors and being active. Spent some time living and studying abroad. At the moment I'm planing do a massive trip around the world.

I'm a pretty laid back guy who is driven by unsatisfied curiosity that pushes me to learn everything I can! xD

I strongly desire to understand the world better and the people in it. Traveling is a way of life for me, and I just can't get enough of it! Every time I get back home I can't help but start planning my next adventure!

One thing I've discovered about traveling is that it could be a much more rewarding and mind opening experience if you get to see the places you travel to through the people you meet and their unique cultures. It made me fall in love with seeing the world through other people's eyes, and checking out new places from the locals' familiar perspectives. Hope to host surfers from different countries and learn as much about their culture as I can.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'm actually a new CouchSurfer but I've heard so many things about it from my friends and people that I've met during my trips. I am truly fascinated with the whole idea of CouchSurfing as it enables you to meet new interesting people and exchange different cultures, thoughts and ideas. It's so intriguing for me to learn how others view the world or what their country is like. It's a super great connector! I hope to make my participation in this project as efficient as possible by hosting or meeting other interesting people.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music:

I love all sorts of music. Mostly I tend to listen to techno, rap, classical music, reggae, liquid dnb and I have the purest love for Stromae music, he is something else!

-----------------------------------------------------

Movies:

Don't really watch movies that much at the moment but back in a day I used to love mind fuck movies (well I still like them), some names that pop into my mind:

The Revolver, Trainspotting, Fight Club, The Shawshank Redemption, Pulp Fiction, 12 Angry Men, City of God, American Beuty, Requiem for a Fream, the Prestige, Gladiator, Kill Bill, 7 Pounds, Pursuit of Happyness, Into The Wild, Forrest Gump, Green Street Hooligans, The Green Mile, Saving Private Ryan, The Godfather, Yes Man, Dogville, The Pianist, Mr Nobody, Beautiful Mind.

---------------------------------------------------

Books:

I got a habit when I travel to buy a book. It's like a present for myself and also a nice reminder of the trip that I had.

My favorite genre is sci-fi. Some of my favorite ones include:

George Orwell "Nineteen Eighty-Four", "Animal Farm"
Ray Bradbury "Fahrenheit 451"
All Ursula K. Le Guin's books

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I think this thing is only yet to come. Because me and my friend decided to do something crazy and unusual after our last exam in school. We both bought a one way plane ticket to Rome, Italy and we decided to go back home to Lithuania (about 3000km) by just hitchhiking with our backpacks. The funny thing is that on the 12th of July we are having our school ending party when we get our diplomas of graduation. So it's kind of a 'to be or not to be' situation but we believe this will only make our adventure more fun and adventurous. To our mind, a lot of people lack such spontaneous decisions which can make our life so much more interesting. We expect to meet a lot of nice and interesting people during this journey and to have many memorable impressions that we'll be able to tell about to our children and grandchildren in the future. And thanks for the CouchSurf community for letting us find even more interesting people during our journey!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm a young person who is just in progress of finding his way in this life and trying to understand his goals of life. CouchSurfing community is likely to become my school, my university of life. Where people sharing their experience and stories will hopefully become teachers to me who will help me understand what I really want to do in my life and how I want to spend my precious and beautiful years of life. At the same time, I hope I can also become the same teacher to other CouchSurfers (even though I may be not so experienced and still young) and to create the beneficial mutual connection between both sides.
