Call me Lawly or Laura.
I'm an unusually outgoing introvert.
I like to examine things deeply. I'm the type of person you could have a multiple-hour conversation with about how someone laughs or how a bug walks across a leaf.
I feel most comfortable when I'm out of my comfort zone. When I eat at a restaurant, I do my best to order that one thing on the menu with the name I can't pronounce and ingredients I've never heard of.
I like to live in cities but visit nature.
I'm absolutely in love with seeing. Sometimes, when I'm in a bad mood, I look at the sky and can't help but smile at how lucky I am to have a pair of eyes that can see the color blue.
It's possible to be so free and alone that all strangers are friends and the whole world is home.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
By coming to your part of the world and asking you lots of enthusiastic questions about the boring things you see and do everyday.
I'm a n00b. Last summer, I did some unofficial couch surfing in Portland, Maine. While hitchhiking, I was fortunate enough to get picked up by a friend of a friend, who then introduced me to her friends, who lent me their friendship and their fold out sofa for a week. I've never used this site but I'm excited to begin!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Once, my friend and I stayed at a bakery in a small town on the coast of Maine. We spent one whole morning up to our elbows, literally, in dough, mixing enough ingredients to make more than 800 pounds of bread. There would be croissants, loaves made from local grains, and many other treats. That night, we slept in a barn loft. There were bats, but they weren't a nuisance. They just flapped around by the ceiling, harmless as butterflies. The following day, we were greeted by the aromas of a crackling fire in a brick oven, and hundreds of loaves, freshly baked. These, we piled into a car, drove over a bridge, and sold at a farmers' market on a nearby island. I was thrilled by the simple beauty of our honest work!
