About Me
CURRENT MISSION
Cycling through Germany, The Netherlands and Belgium
ABOUT ME
Tall, 6' 6" (198 cm) Bald, Fit, Friendly. I arrived in Amsterdam May 7 and have been cycling since. From Amsterdam to Leiden, Otterlo and Arnhem, then by train to Koblenz. From Koblenz again by bicycle to Stasbourg. For a few days rest I have taken the train back to Amsterdam where I am staying at a suburban B&B. Monday 28th I will start cycling again generally following the North Sea on to The Hague, and eventually to Antwerp and Brugge before I head back home.
PHILOSOPHY
Thousands and thousands of little kindnesses, making something better, add up to big improvements in the world.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I just learned of Couch Surfing this morning from a young traveler I met trying to navigate Amsterdam Central with a bicycle.
I have three more weeks left for my European cycle tour and hope to be able to use CouchSurfing and then to open my home when I get back to the U.S.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
First day on Couchsurfing thanks to a fortuitous meeting with a friendly fellow traveler. I don't know how to load a photo from my I-pad to this service. But you may Google me or check my law firm, www.PaineHamblen.com or the University where I teach as an adjunct www.law.gonzaga.edu

Music, Movies, and Books
Favorite book, music, movie is usually the last of the great many I have enjoyed. Recently I've read the Jobs bio, Coetzee, Naill Ferguson and Malcom Gladwell.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
It will be amazing when I canfigure out how to upload the picture I've just taken of myself with the I-pad.
Teach, Learn, Share
"The purpose of reason is to justify emotion". Rosseau
I teach communication skills at the law school. Students, after spending so many years in rigorous schooling have a difficult time appreciating and accounting for the role of emotion in human transactions.
