Hello! We are Scott and Layla! We have been together for 4 years and met at Film school. We are both 24 years old Australians currently living in Brisbane, Queensland. We are finally embarking on our 3 month Europe trip and are excited to experience it in the best way- through the couchsurfing community! We love the arts, photography, music (who doesn’t), and connecting with the world and its people! Scott is a video editor and musician and Layla is a photographer who just completed her masters in Visual Arts. We are spiritual and love to be surrounded by nature. Our home is full to the roof with plants, and we spend most weekends travelling out to nearby waterfalls and hiking trails.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Great community for people to always have a place to stay. To provide and to give for others. Powerful values and energy! Layla used couchsurfing while she was in Europe at the start of 2020 and absolutely loved it. From late night chats in Edinburgh to secret tours in Zurich. When covid hit, she was reassured that she could stay with her hosts in Paris while she figured out a way to get back home. That meant the world to her, and proved how caring this community is. When we find a more stable home in the future we will be looking to open our home as hosts and return the gift.

Music, Movies, and Books

Love and appreciate all music, especially film scores. Layla’s favourite books are Harry Potter. Scott’s favourite is The Beach. We are both cinephiles and could talk all day about movies! Fave Directors: Tarantino, Martin McDonagh, Ruben Östlund, Del Toro, Luca Guadagnino…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Climbed a very dangerous mountain in Vanuatu. Lived off bananas for weeks. Last time Layla was in Europe she travelled alone but managed to find safety with some fellow couch surfers from Paris ❤️

Teach, Learn, Share

We have been stuck in our little Australian bubble for too long. We want to listen and learn about the world and its people through the true way of travelling- couchsurfing! We don’t want to isolate ourselves in hotels, we would rather get to know strangers and share our stories and culture!
