Hi there!

My name's Lazer, I'm 29, and writing a monologue intro makes this feel like the beginning of an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting!

I'm an American paramedic and educator with way too many interests and an insatiable fernweh, which has led me to see 48 of 50 US states, and then begin taking my journeys overseas.

At the moment, I'm living in Ukraine for work, and will be here for 2-3 years; every 6-8 weeks I have vacation, during which I'll be traveling absolutely everywhere I can possibly reach, and hopefully making new friends all around the world! I'd love to host people in return, should anyone venture to the Eastern ends of Ukraine.

I sing, I do back flips pretty much everywhere I go, my camera travels with me, and sometimes I feel adventure chases me as much as I chase adventures. I'm grateful to have had an interesting life, and I try to make sure every single day makes it more interesting, because list is too short to waste! So, here I am, about to ask a bunch of strangers to sleep over...the least I can do is offer to supply good beer, right? Beer is always on me!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I'll be traveling for 4-6 weeks at a time over the next year or two, and, well, originally, this idea was brought to my attention because even cheap hostels begin to grow very expensive when you're paying for 30-40 nights every few months. But since this was brought to my attention, everything about it seems better! Making new friends everywhere, being able to have locals point me in the right directions and tell me the best places to see....this seems like the greatest thing on the entire internet. I feel ridiculous for just having learned about it!

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to pretty much EVERY kind of music, aside from some jazz and musicals. I listen to everything from Mongolian folk music to heavy metal to opera to bachata to chalga to bluegrass to hip-hop. Music is always on the menu!

I rarely have time to read books that aren't medical in nature, but in the long-ago I read my way through countless 'classics', loved the Harry Potter series, and enjoy reading historical books.

I sadly don't have much time for movies, either, but Netflix has provided an amazing number of international TV shows I slowly work my way through!

I once set a world record for the smallest backflip, and it was featured on the Discovery Science show 'Outrageous Acts of Science'!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've led a relatively interesting life, and have all sorts of interests ranging from parkour to philosophy, so there's always lots to share! I'm also ALWAYS capable of making people laugh, which is a skill I wish I could take credit for, but it's just something I've always been able to do! I also sing, so, karaoke night anywhere on earth is a show I'm glad to put on.

Beyond that....I'm an absolute beer diva, and generally never come to anyone's home without some selection on me! Should anyone want to go out for a good beer, I'm always delighted to lead the way and introduce people to entire styles of beer they didn't even know exist!
