About Me

I will be in Quebec city from March 2nd till March 31st 2023.

I am deeply optimistic 😁 I love meeting, discovering, sharing, creating and building. I laugh a lot, maybe sometimes too much. I love sharing and giving, being kind at people and trying to make them feel good!

I am currently based in Quebec City. During summer 2021, I got to learn again something I already knew: travelling makes me happy. I decided to rent out my flat, buy a car big enough to take me anywhere and to serve as a basic accommodation, and go on the road.

Now, here I am: a digital nomad! I work and study full time remotely, and settle wherever life is taking me :-)

I basically drove across Canada from Cape Briton to Victoria. Now about to explore Montana, and then up to the Yukon :-D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I have been driving around Canada for a couple of years already! I got to meet and exchange with people from so many different backgrounds, hearing their stories and learning about their experiences... I want to keep doing that! 😁

Interests

I love the mountain. I have hiked and skied for decades, and I am now aiming to take it to the next level. I also started mountaineering and back-country skiing: I guess it will be my focus for the next months or so! I am also a rower, but Canada has not provided the best environment to practice...

Besides that, I just love exploring and learning. Take me to your favourite jazz festival, your dance class, show me your painting or your new video game: I will probably suck at most of it, but if you are keen to show and teach, I will just love it :-)

Music, Movies, and Books

I am quite eclectic in my tastes.
On sunny Sunday mornings, I would listen to reggae such as Manu Chao -- don't ask me why. After a busy day of work, when I need to let some steam go, I could play No Roots (Alice Merton) or Sail (Awolnation). For sad days, maybe Lemon Tree (Fool's Garden). Jazzy or classical music during work times... and obviously old folks like the Beatles, Nina Simone. When I scroll social media, I can get caught by Walk off the Earth's videos. Or just put the radio on, and get caught by whatever is offered!

As for books, I am trying to keep reading despite sometimes getting tired by my academic readings -- and resist the constant Netflix temptation. At the moment, I am reading Ken Follett, World Without End: quite a big book, so I can drag it with me for a few months :-D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

When I was leaving in Africa, I was feeling that each single day would be an extraordinary experience per se...
Travelling at 4 on a motorbike, or at 12 in a 5-seat car, sleeping under a tent surrounded by hippos, crossing paths with people who went through fascinating historical events, spending Saturdays and Sundays in local pubs... All this was definitely outside anything I thought would exist on Earth, and I am still not sure to still be able to grasp all this experience.

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess we'll see what we can teach and learn from each other!
I can definitely talk about my trips, create opportunities to speak French, or share my experience about organizing people in self-organized communities. And much more I guess :-)
I am quite certain that whoever you are, I'll learn so much from you -- and honestly I can't wait to meet you!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am definitely not a chef, but if you are not too picky I can cook you something simple and nice, like a quiche (French-style pie)!
Also, I am travelling with a pick-up: if you need to carry stuffs (like selling or throwing away your old furniture), I am cool to drive it around :-)
