Overview
About Me
Easygoing, a little spacey. Love to dance. Love cycling and long cycling trips. Love the moment of arrival at the top of a mountain. Love never knowing how something ends. Love meeting all sorts of people and being surprised at which ones I like best.
I just want to keep learning and exploring.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Listened to a Thai sports announcer praise my performance as I played (as the only female player) in a riveting game of what can only be described as fire hockey. Spent a week not speaking, reading, writing, listening to music, watching TV, internetting, eating after noon, or doing anything but drinking tea and practicing meditation at Wat Doi Suthep just north of
Chiang Mai. Cycled 1000 km through Thailand with two friends (independently, no guide), camping or staying with random hospitable people met on the road....then repeated a shorter version of this in Vietnam. Climbed El Volcan Misti at 19,001 feet (5,800 meters)!
Teach, Learn, Share
I would love to learn more about: mountaineering, wilderness survival, wilderness first aid/first responder, Spanish, sustainable living and gardening--including permaculture and aquaponics. Winemaking, surfing, silks.
I have a basic knowledge of most of these things, but am always looking to expand.
I have a PhD in speech, language and hearing sciences. My area of research is in dementia and neurodegenerative diseases, how they impact communication, and how to help people who are losing the ability to communicate. I can also give you advice on organizing a cycling or bikepacking trip. I've always been a good writer. If you have something that needs editing I would love to help out.
