ABOUT ME
I'm a musician, and the cello is my voice (although I'll give any instrument a go!) I love making and performing music, and I think that music is one of the most powerful forces in the world.
PHILOSOPHY
My personal philosophy is still evolving, but one of the most important ideas I try to live by is not to let my life be dictated by the comfort and security of habit. To grow as a person we must always be open to new and unfamiliar experiences, and never let ourselves be ruled by fear of the unknown.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Having recently arrived in Buenos Aires, where I'm going to be living for the next few years, I feel very lucky that the CS community here is so active. I've been to some concerts, been invited to parties, been dancing, and drunk good coffee with even better people. So far I can't host, but one day I hope I will be able to...
Interests
In no particular order... music, art, literature, poetry, dance, philosophy, alternative medicines and therapies, the Alexander Technique, traveling, discovering, walking, sailing, helping the world and the people in it... amongst others.

Music, Movies, and Books
I love music. If it's good, in any style, I can appreciate it. I am a classically trained cellist, so of course I love classical music and in particular music for the cello. Some of my favourite composers are Benjamin Britten (an English composer), Schostakovich, Bach, Beethoven, Kodaly... the list could be endless!
I also love bands such as Mono, Sigur Ros, Radiohead, and others playing alternative/post rock. In Paris I played in a French band called Kwoon for the last couple of years, and this is the kind of music we played.
Folk and Indigenous music from around the world is also a passion. I love the mbira music of Zimbabwe, the Gypsy music of eastern Europe, the traditional music of my home country (Scotland), and right now I am just beginning to discover the true music of South America.
basically, i'm obsessed with music :-)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Only one?! Until recently I would have said that playing in a band, touring and playing in front of people was pretty amazing. Then I came to South America to travel and work with NGO's in Peru and Colombia providing education and support for children. The whole experience has been life changing in more ways than I can describe, and by far the most amazing of my life so far.
Teach, Learn, Share
If anyone is a budding musician, has a cello, a violin or a viola they would like to learn, then I'm your girl!
