About Me

I love foreign culture, learning new things and listening to peoples' stories. Foreign places draws me and I've lived almost 19 years abroad total in different countries, working, learning the language, getting to know the culture and local people, changing my preconceptions and broadening my horizons. I quit the corporate world when my father died and opened my own baking business to fill my heart and others. I became a yoga teacher after taking one of the best classes in my life from an amazing teacher. That led me to Laughter Yoga and becoming a certified Laughter Yoga Leader and Laughter Yoga Trainer. I love ethnic cuisine and love learning to cook it. I've blogged for an Ayurvedic spa in India and had a newspaper article published in Sri Lanka. Volunteering as an English teacher to rural children in India and Sri Lanka has been some of my rewarding experiences.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Some great friends of mine have been doing it for a while and after hearing some amazing stories I wanted to join the experience. It is great to be a part of a unique community of people wanting to meet and help others. It is a great way to open a window to life and see what is out there.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some of my favorite books are Labyrinth by Kate Moss, The Help by Kathryn Stockett, Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. Music varies. Movies I enjoyed either for the amazing script, direction or performances: Doubt, Brokeback Mountain, Blade Runner, Forrest Gump, Burn After Reading, The Grand Budapest Hotel, Almost Famous.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Hike up to the Gangotri Glacier and Gomukh, 'the mouth of the glacier, in the Himalayas which is the water source and beginning of the Ganga River. It was a two day adventure in which we slept in tents, smothered in wool blankets, woke up at the crack of dawn, braved the winds and trekked in the most beautiful sunlight I have ever seen with the crystal clear rushing waters of the Gangotri sounding in our ears.
