ABOUT ME

I am excited to add couchsurfing to my travels to see special places and meet great people. I also am excited to meet those visiting my hometown to show you what's here to see and do.

Traveling friends are their own, special breed :).

PHILOSOPHY

Compassion and empathy - it is hard for me to find much else that could mean more or be more important. This doesn't mean you can't be strong, willful, vibrant, intense, or confident. Or that you have to be the utmost sacrificial or submissive, not at all. Things that are beautiful are rarely, if ever, one dimensional.

Have you read "Lila" by Robert Pirsig? I resonate with his description and understanding of "Quality"

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am a novice couchsurfer, but have been lucky enough to travel and live abroad. I am looking forward to meeting couchsurfers in my travels, and would be thrilled to have a coffee and show you around my current hometown. Someday I hope to also be a host, I just don't have the couch for you quite yet.

Músicas, Filmes e Livros

I love watching a movie I know nothing about but has been recommended to me. Relatedly, I am in the habit of forgetting the details (even titles) of movies I've seen and loved, despite being a detail-oriented, observant person with a sharp memory. They are just really great to rediscover.

Music - does it have a good beat? Do I want to get up and dance? I listen to the radio while driving, and am not afraid to sing and bop around. I do get looks from other drivers at times. I am not ashamed of enjoying some of the overplayed hits.
Or alternatively, does it touch me somehow? You know there's that music that makes you want to close your eyes, or give a contented smile, or even a sigh (usually in the folk or indie variety)
Music is wonderfully difficult to describe in words.

Once upon a time I played violin, and made the mistake of just renting rather than buying. Some day I'll make my way back.

I distinctly remember the moment when it dawned on me that I would never in this lifetime read all the wonderful books I am interested in reading, that I didn't have to be anxious that they would run out. No need for this to be anything close to a source of anxiety - what a gift.
I love reading a book out on a patio, especially if there's sun on my skin. I book on a gray or rainy day with a cozy blanket and a great chair or couch is another joy.
Like many travelers I love the Alchemist (Coehlo, and some of his others), Siddhartha (Hesse), Into Thin Air (Krakauer), and other great tales. I also like a good novel or series, some of the classics, folk tales, comedy or philosophy.

It was amazing to be a wedding photographer (twice) for the village I worked in in Himachal Pradesh, India. As I'm sure you've gathered, weddings are a pretty big deal in India, and they are occasions of incredible thoughtfulness, energy, wealth, and meaning. Relatedly, they are sensational, making them not only an incredible photography opportunity, but also one of bonding with people from an entirely different lifestyle and experiences. Not only while dancing, giving marigolds, and getting henna done, but after when providing them with their wedding photos after the event, an opportunity they would otherwise not have had.

I love that this is not just about a place to sleep.

What comes to mind off the bat? If you can teach me harmonica, I would be thrilled :). I have one, I just don't know what to do with it yet.
