关于我
I'm a very open-minded person, vegetarian, forever optimistic towards the thought that the members of our species will be good to one another, but far from naive. I believe that we are what we absorb, ingest, and appropriate, and I adore meeting people, discovering their passions, and taking something good from every experience.
I have a fairly chilled out disposition, love a good laugh and some intelligent conversation, but I'm respectful and polite. I do have fairly strong opinions on certain matters, but I welcome challenges to those thoughts and am always eager to hear another point of view.
I'm currently a student at the University of Kent, although I've been living in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the past year as an exchange student. I've just completed my third year studying Biological Anthropology and will be spending my final year back in Canterbury, England.
我为什么加入 Couchsurfing
I've been studying abroad for the past year, and so made the profile just in case I wanted to couch surf whilst travelling about.
I travelled India in my gap year, and a few of the people I was out there with told me about couch surfing, and I fell in love with the idea! To be able to travel and stay with locals in the areas that I visit, interact and meet new people from all walks of life seems like the most incredible experience. Far better than staying in impersonal hotel rooms, that's for sure. And the thought that I might make friends, despite how brief our encounter, who I could then return the favour for and allow to come stay with me and show around once I'm back in England would be amazing.
There are so many wonderful people out there in this world to meet, and what a fantastic opportunity to connect us all!

Seeing natural beauty, live music, keeping a journal.
Mostly everything to do with Anthropology. I love to put myself in the best position I can to understand other people, discover their passions and dreams and what drives them, and unveil how they perceive the world. I'm interested in our evolution, as that is a large part of what I study, but this doesn't mean that I'm opposed to religion. I don't believe they are mutually exclusive. I'm fascinated by and admire faith in all forms. I love to read about what makes us human, and then see it become apparent in real life.
I love eating good food and socialising. I hate that there is not a more eloquent way to say this, ha, but I do love to party. I'm old enough and experienced enough (been drinking for a few more years than I probably should have been) with this to not have to end up as a mess every night, and I somehow manage to maintain an air of class when I'm intoxicated, but I really do love a good drink and a dance.
Adore tattoos, and have a fair few myself. Hoping to get more in the near future.

音乐、电影和书籍
Pretty much any live music appeals to me; the atmosphere, mostly. This is probably because I grew up in Southampton, which is home to NME's voted 'Britain's Best Small Venue' - The Joiners. I spent my teen years almost living at gigs and have seen some really cool artists there, and met a few big names before they were famous. I have a couple of friends who are well-known in the music industry. I have a major appreciation for musical talent regardless of genre or situation, even if it's just someone with a guitar on a beach or in a field.
Blues/soul/motown/indie/alternative/60s/70s/psychadelic/metal/rnb/house/latino/reggae. I don't tend to listen to chart music, but apart from that I'm basically into everything. Become fairly partial to country music after living in Tennessee, as much as it pains me to say this.
The city I've been living in recently, Canterbury, has a decent house music scene, and so I've grown to enjoy house and electronic music a lot more over the past few years (was so opposed to it beforehand - just can't escape the "indie kid" in me).
I can play some piano and sing a little, but haven't done so for a few years because of focusing my energies on the social sciences. I also used to play steel pans, and taught myself to play ukelele, which I took with me on my travels as I love hanging out and jamming with people through music.
I wouldn't personally say I have any particular favourite books because the majority of what I read is relating to my studies, but I'd love to meet people with recommendations of some good books to read whilst I'm not studying! I've seen far more movies than anyone really should have.
我做过的一件不可思议的事情
Teaching primary school children in a rural village in the south of India, helping out with the orphanage, and then travelling for two months was one of the most enriching things I've ever done. The children were so enlightened and refreshing, despite having next to nothing, and it was inspiring.

I feel like my life-experiences (good and bad)and the things I've studied, alongside my outgoing, enchanting personality can really enrich the lives of the people I meet in some way or another. I'm a great advice giver, and feel like I'm able to open people's minds.
I can also cook, and am the queen of whipping up delicious vegetarian/vegan meals out of next to nothing!
