Hi there,

My name is Lebogang Kenneth Motsagi, and I am a 23-year old Cape Town based self-taught photographer, fashion stylist, designer and writer.

I currently sustain myself as a freelance photographer and stylist, and was recently featured in the Cape Times, The Star, 5 FM and covered an interview with the SABC for my group exhibition that took place at ‘The Brick Lane Gallery, in London, UK. The exhibition ran from the 7th - 20th November 2017. What followed this was a set of press releases in the United Kingdom, an invitation for another group exhibition from The South Africa House in London, as well as a membership from the Soho Photo Gallery in New York. I also got accepted to start my 2018/2019 studies at the University of The Arts London, London College.

Eine tolle Erfahrung, die ich gemacht habe

Turned our house back in Kimberley into an art gallery. I host exhibitions back in Kimberley that are free for the public. It takes place in a township called Galeshewe, and normally kids from the orphanage home partake in it, as well as all kinds of people both young and old.

My objective with every every show is to inform, educate & inspire in order to bring change to the mindset of the individual.

Lebogang and myself were introduced to each other through a mutual friend which led to us working together on "The Blaqroom ZA," along with other creatives. Working with Lebogang was very easy because its very easy to communicate with him. He's very clear on his concepts and what he wants overall which makes the process of working with him so easy. Working on The Blaqroom ZA exhibition and presenting it to the community was an amazing experience, more especially for children who were never familiar with an art environment, and it really just showed so many people in our community (Galeshewe) that anything is possible if you put your mind to it. I look forward to working with him again.

I attended the event which was held in Galeshewe, accompanied by the children from the Thusong Children’s Centre, together with Mama Gladys who has been their caretaker for a very long time.

The show was already on when we arrived. We were welcomed by Lebongang’s beautiful and very unique outfits which were already on display from the outside, around the house, and some in the entrance of the kitchen. The one design that caught most of my attention was a bag made of denim pants/trousers. That was an outstanding design, as it reflected the skill and talent that Lebogang has. There were also a lot of other denim magic which produced outstanding and admirable designs, pants, skirts etc. Most of the outfits were very unique and of an unusual design, which attracted the attention of young people who were mostly from Galeshewe.

Some of Lebogang’s photographic and design work was also showcased on a screen in the lounge of the house, where the children from Thusong enjoyed themselves most. In the other room were breathtaking photographic and handcrafted pieces of art of a very high quality, which was mostly admired and enjoyed by those who graced the event.

It was obvious that Lebogang and his team put in a lot of effort in preparation for the event. It was very impressive to see how the youth of Galeshewe , of all races and genders, graced the occasion with a lot of pride and admiration.

It should be noted that with given time, financial assistance and with Lebogang’s tremendous skill and talent in the arts, with no doubt he will soon make headlines in his career, as long as he remains focused and committed to his God-given talent.
