First, I am new to this site as of May 2016, so forgive any faux pas. I love traveling, so it seems a good place to be. But more urgently, I have accepted a position outside of Salinas, California, starting in August. As a (currently) part-time teacher, I don't and won't have the funds to move—until a month after I start working. For one month, I will be needing a place to stay. I may need a place to crash on those days when I travel down to Salinas to look at apartments, take care of administrative stuff, and check out the area, too.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I backpacked in Europe (alone) in my early 30s! London, Canterbury, a 3-week course on Romanesque and Gothic architecture in France, and back on my own in Florence, Rome, Sorrento, and the Amalfi Coast. Swimming in the amazing water around Capri and in its caves was the most epic experience of my life. I love to travel, so being on couchsurfing.com may turn out to be a better idea than I originally thought!

A good sense of humor and quiet exuberance for life, watercolor sketches and art, art workshops or lessons, washing all the dishes, listening, being a slow hiking buddy, dog walking (not intimidated by big dogs!), dog or cat sitting, ranch help (I grew up with horses and goats, and I can help round up or drive cattle on horseback--it's true), editing work (professional copy editor for five years), etc.
