About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Right now I'm moving to Montreal

ABOUT ME

I am a fiercy independent woman. I've traveled solo for 5 consecutive years. I love music and teach it for a living. My students drive me nuts sometimes but I love them all the same. I love to dance, especially ballet. It's the hardest dance I've ever learned thus far, but it's so beautiful. I've done some flamenco and am doing a lot of salsa lately.
I love reading books. I sometimes spend my days off nerding out at the library and just reading, not taking out anything.
I love being active, but when on vacation, I'm not afraid to let myself go either. I'm into races and always looking for the next fun one to train for.

PHILOSOPHY

When things get tough, it is an opportunity to grow. Know that if you want to, you can flurish because of it.
I'm a vegetarian, though when I go traveling to some countries, if I'm served meet by a wonderful host, I'm not going to make a fuss over it. I might not like it, but it's not the end of the world either.

Interests

I play piano and I love music. I love travel and that is when I am the happiest. The people I meet along the way are what makes traveling the best - you see the good in people, and it gives me hope that this world really can be a better place.
I traveled for 5 consecutive years in my early 20s. My father told me to go traveling and not to come back until I couldn't wait to go to college. And that's exactly what happened.
I love biking - I have three bikes, almost one for every occasion - and have done a couple of bike tours in Australia and South-East Asia.
The best memories I have were the ones where I wasn't a tourist. I spent 9 months teaching English in northern China and it was one of the hardest things I've ever had to endure in my life. It was incredibly hard to adapt the the culture and the isolation and I'm not sure I ever got used to it. But it was absolutely life altering and made me a better person at the end of it. Now I tell everyone to go to China.

Music, Movies, and Books

Right now, I just like pop. Years of studying classical music and jazz has left me needing something more simple.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Sailing to Colombia from Panama - 5 days of sea sickness, but amazing moments and the happiest time of my life.
Getting taken in by a mother and her teenage daughter in one of the most dangerous cities I've ever visited. Their generosity floored me.
Bike touring through Australia and Thailand and seeing things that no other tourist would see.
Teaching English in China - man, what a growing experience that was.
