About Me

Hey all! Wow, writing about myself is really hard--where do I even start? The beginning, I suppose;

I was born on a cold, rainy night in Boston, MA, USA...

Well, maybe we don't need to go that far back :) And besides, I moved to CA when I was 2 years old , so I am a Californian in all the ways that count. I grew up in the American suburbia, where the Starbucks runs like tap water and family barbecues are a way of life. Throughout my life I have attended several Jewish schools, been homeschooled, and even attended an arts high school (in the creative writing department). As a result, I've grown to have at least an appreciation for all things creative, from movies, to TV shows, to books, to music (ask me for some recommendations! :D), to even the culinary arts. I'm always down to talk about any of these things, or to experience them--for me, part of travel is experiencing the live music and local foods of whatever new location I am exploring.

Speaking of dietary needs, I do keep a bit of kosher, but it's nothing difficult to accommodate at all--I only don't eat certain kinds of meat/shellfish, and I don't eat meat and dairy together at the same time. Usually if it's served I just eat something else, or I just say I'm vegetarian. If you would like to know more, feel free to message me, but it's really not an issue. As for other religious needs--none!

I am from a family of six, with three dogs, and occasionally two grandparents living with us as well.

One of my favorite things to talk about is languages--I speak English and Hebrew fluently, and am currently learning Spanish.

Currently I live in the north of Israel, on a post-high school gap year program, and I'm working to get accepted into university. So after this year, who knows where I'll be!

NOTE: Currently, I am not in a situation where I can host, as I am part of a gap year program where I do not own the quarters I live in, have three roommates in one room, and every day is highly scheduled. However, once I finish the program and get my own place, I would be delighted to host.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I've wanted to travel for years, but only just acquired the means to do so. Now that I have the time and money to travel, I'm excited to see as much of the world as possible! For me, meeting people from all over the world, getting to know them and the day-to-day life of the area, experiencing both the touristic and the 'mundane' (for locals)... these are all equally important parts of the traveling experience :) I'm very curious about what life is like in other countries. Also, I just love talking to people, and learning new things!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Moved to Israel to be part of/build the first year of an international gap year program. We volunteer, learn Hebrew, travel, take care of ourselves, build the program, also work with our sister program (an Israeli one).

Went parasailing in Eilat, and saw Jordan, Israel, and Egypt all at once.

Had a picnic in a tree
