This community is changing like all things and I understand that there's alot of new members out there.

Couchsurfing is not an alternative to AirBNB or similar websites. It's a site built on intercultural and interpersonal exchange. A community not just a couch. So if you're just looking for free accommodation for a quick layover, then this may not be the right place to look.

Also, I receive a large number of requests on a weekly basis, which can be overwhelming especially since I don't host a lot. In other words, I'm selective. Things I look for is: a. availability match, b. evidence of reading my profile, and c. commonality/similar interests, d. sense of community, e. positive reviews. I want to be excited to host you.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the community building aspect of it with culture and traveling as it's foundation. Always nice to meet like minded individuals especially since I wouldn't have the opportunity to do so otherwise.
