我为什么加入 Couchsurfing

To meet people and get to know other cultures. Of course, honestly speaking, Couchsurfing helps travelers save some money, but ultimately, what attracts travelers like me is the chance to really be able to live and interact closely with locals even if it's just for a while.

兴趣

I love going to new places, meeting new people and getting familiar with other cultures. I love reading, listening to just about any genre of music, sketching, taking pictures and eating! I'm into anime, dogs, online lessons from learning another language to basic programming in Python (they didn't make me an expert at all but I did enjoy learning things I never thought I would).

音乐、电影和书籍

I particularly love Studio Ghibli movies, but I can watch any type of movie, with less preference to pointless comedy (I still have a sense of humor, though). My mother collects Oscar-winning and Oscar-nominated movies, and I love old ones like Fiddler on the Roof, Lawrence of Arabia, The Sound of Music, Schindler's List, Forrest Gump, etc.

I listen to almost any genre of music. Music heals my soul. :) Sans drama, here are a few of my favorites: Tori Kelly, Up Dharma Down, Coldplay, Switchfoot, Yiruma, John Mayer, Anberlin, Dave Matthews Band, Bon Iver, The Script, Pete Yorn, Jason Mraz, Dishwalla, The Fray, Relient K, Dream Theater, Aqualung, Pentatonix, The Daylights, Yoko Kanno, etc. etc. etc. (I also enjoy classical and jazz music)

Books I can't help falling in love with. I read classics, and YA series, and even children's books. My collection is growing and growing that later in life I want to put up a local library. :) My favorite authors (meaning I've read at least two of their works, haha): Jane Austen, Charles Dickens, F. Scott Fitzgerald, Jack London, Neil Gaiman, J.K. Rowling, Bill Watterson, Suzanne Collins, JRR Tolkien, CS Lewis, Kazuo Ishiguro, Ernest Hemingway, John Steinbeck, Lois Lowry, etc.

我做过的一件不可思议的事情

I can't cite just one because I don't think any of them is the MOST amazing :D Reaching the summit of a mountain via a steep trail (Mt. Pulag via Akiki Trail), getting to hold the arm of a favorite band's lead singer (Jon Foreman), riding a donkey up a steep hill in Santorini, going up Mt. Pilatus in Switzerland with strangers, surfing without really knowing how to swim (Baler, Aurora, Philippines), eating exotic food without reservation, having seen and swam alongside a whale shark (Donsol, Sorsogon, Philippines)

I can teach you basic guitar, piano and drums, basic Filipino phrases (or advanced, if you want, hehe), or how to curl your hair without using heat. :)

I'm willing to share my experiences if you want to hear about them. I can share a few Filipino recipes, too.

In my first couchsurfing experiences in Japan, I brought a few local delicacies from the Philippines as gifts for my hosts. I will continue doing that whenever I couchsurf or meet someone delightful in my travels abroad. :)
