ABOUT ME

2 adult children, divorced,work full time.
Reading and walking take up much of my non-working time. Wide musical tastes, athough a bit stuck in the past. Would like to be more musically educated particularly in relation to jazz. A novice gardener - first time growing of butternut squash and purple flowering broccoli failed miserably.
Think I have a reasonably well developed sense of social justice and a Guardian reader too...
Have lived in various places as described, and now in Nottingham although I don't see that as necessarily for life. Good for visual arts and near the Peak District for walks.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I have only just joined. I don't know how I will participate although I have positive reports from my son who hosts and is hosted.
I think it is a case of seeing what happens

Last film I saw that really left an impression was The White Ribbon also like lighter stuff: Strictly Ballroom for example and the usual others: Cabaret, The African Queen.. Books from Henning Mankell to Anne Tyler to Dickens

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

However cliched I thought the Taj Mahal was pretty amazing
The beauty of what is around me when I walk in the countryside continually amazes me.
Converted a loft from scratch from putting in the joists to making a quarter-turn staircase. Not earth moving but I was very proud of it

Teach, Learn, Share

I am quite practical. I could probably pass on some carpentry and also sewing skills. I used to teach English as a foreign language and could certainly help with learning English.
I can also pass on the the history of where I live
I would Like to learn Spanish and would also like to know about any country/town I am in.
