Overview
About Me
CURRENT MISSION
ordinary family : extraordinarily hosting while farm/homesteading.
ABOUT ME
My family and I used to travel / explore / wander the world at our own pace. We loved experiences of friends, food, history, culture, and adventure. NOW we are homesteading 1 hour outside of Ottawa. Come and visit us at our farmhouse retreat in the country.
PHILOSOPHY
to be kind, live aware, aspire to great things, challenge ourselves, and grow happy and healthy. Every day is an opportunity. We are all learning.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
There is a great exchange that happens when doors open.
My husband, myself, and our boys (now 16 & 23 married expecting his own baby) help out where we can. We are welcoming and thoroughly appreciate the many times we have been welcomed.
We are thrilled to have the opportunity to meet some like minded people who open their life to a global community :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
In the summer of 2010 we traveled the US and Canada (13,000kms) for 7 weeks on a super LOW budget (our car cost us $800) - we wanted to explore and spend time together. This led to a 4 month family Eurotrip in 2011 (we climbed Mount Olympus ... and so much more). That led to 5 weeks playing in Costa Rica in 2014, then came our resort experiences in Cuba.. These travels have formed us. Over the past 8 years we are creating a little dream small scale farming in the Canadian countryside where we host many work/cultural exchanges. We work hard and eat well.
Teach, Learn, Share
We think we teach the children; and they in turn teach us so much.
Classes I could give: Felting, childbirth education, contemplating home/road/homeschooling, making bread/butter/jelly, foraging . . .
Elmir could teach how to make wood pens on a lathe, how to set up a blog or website, how to balance Brandie.
Our children are social and engaging. Zion could talk about fixing cars or natural horsemanship. Eamon, about his ever evolving plans, games, and chickens.
What we want to learn? everything. Especially related to cheesemaking, building, business, art and wildcrafting.
