About Me

Making my way through Asia and into Europe - especially Germany, France and Spain. Coming to a city near you! Maybe. Leaving my plans as open as I can for now.

ABOUT ME

This is going to be wildly inaccurate, through a combination of outrageous lies and the inability to summarise oneself in a few paragraphs. I'll leave it to you to decide which is responsible for any lack of clarity.

Laughing, reading, and getting outdoors. Music too, always music.

I've given the 'lifelong student' tag a kick by finishing my masters in international development, and love my work in the development sector.

Writing too, though I don't do near enough. And bad jokes. And late nights talking with friends. And a plethora of other things.

By night, I may or may not be a Mexican wrestler who goes by the name of Commande Violente.

I sing to myself a lot, although most people are happier if I don't do it near them.

I give my pets ghetto voices when talking to them. My housemates do find this odd.

I could probably live off avocados and white wine. Maybe some carbs, but they're negotiable.

PHILOSOPHY

The world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've hosted a few, and stayed at a few - and enjoyed it a lot! Unfortunately at the moment I'm unable to host as I'm traveling myself, but plan to repay the favour when I'm back in Melbourne.

Interests

Life, the universe, and everything. The answer to all those things is 42, by the way. Seriously, I'm like a combination of Bob Dylan, James Dean, Lance Armstrong, and Samuel L. Jackson. I suppose I should avoid talking myself up this much, but I believe in always telling the truth. Although I can't understand sarcasm or irony.

I enjoy, and perhaps from time to time am actually good at;
writing,
cycling,
arguments,
thinking & drinking,
talking (but avoiding arguments and politics),
hiking,
rock climbing.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Eclectic to say the least. On high rotation at the moment: The Kills, The XX, Beatles, Otis Redding, Louis Armstrong, Black Keys, Jezabels, Dylan, The Pajama Club, Curtis Mayfield, Roy Orbison, The Cure, anything Jack White touches, Lannie Lane, The Decemberists, Paul Simon.

Books: Gabriel Garcia Marquez, Christopher Hitchens, Saffran Foer, Cormac McCarthy, Robert Frost, Don Delillo. I also have a soft spot for Stephen King, and I once read, and occasionally still read, a large number of trashy fantasy novels. Popcorn for the mind.

Movies/TV: West Wing, Mad Men, Arrested Development, Community, The Office (Brit of course), Game of Thrones. Going through a Woody Allen kick at the moment with movies.

Teach, Learn, Share

I spend a lot of time thinking about:
How many non-existent angels can't fit on the head of a pin.
About those sentence fragments.
How to stow away in people's luggage.
That politics consistently manages to let us down. I want to be inspired and proud, not cynical and deflated.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I've been told I'm an excellent cook. And DJ.

Countries I’ve Visited
