About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Too meet the most amazing people all around the world, learn and experience new cultures/ lifestyles and have as much FUN as is possible. AND... to never say no to anything

ABOUT ME

Hi my name is Liam Southall but my friends all know me as Lem. My mums Irish and my dad is English but i was born and grew up in the historic town of Bath. I have an older brother called Christian and we get on really well, we go out on the weekends together to the pub and share our weeks moments. I have just finished school and am on a gap year before i go to Film school in Sept 2008. I spent 3 months in Nepal volunteering at an orphanage. It was also an opportunity to meet people from around the world, and have alot of adventures such as Mt Everest and paragliding.
I have a enormous passion for making films, i spend alot of my time running a film club for young people my region and making films of my own. I have been lucky enough to work in the film industry and its a career i am set on for my future.
I enjoy meeting new people and sharing with them things from my culture and learning theirs.

PHILOSOPHY

To always be up for an adventure and push myself to be the best i can be. To meet, learn and share with people and cultures around the world. To be the best person i can be.
And... to have FUN!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I get my own place when i move to Bournemouth (on the beach) in September 2008 so i will then be able to host people :)

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

My trip to the United States will be my first couch surfing experience and i cannot wait. I decided to go to the USA after meeting a good friend in Nepal who was from the USA. Its a place thats always amazed me and as a film maker and also growing up in England it has had such an effect on my life. I look forward to meeting and experiencing American people.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Working in a orphanage in Kathmandu, Nepal for 3 months.
Trekking to Everest Base Camp.
Breaking my arm in a car crash but pulling myself through my exams to make it the film school i wanted to go to.
Venice blew my mind.
a 2 day bike ride up to the hills above Kathmandu and watching the sun rise over the city and the clouds.
Paragliding in the Annapurna in Nepal.
Hiring a boat with my German and American friend in Nepal, having a couple of beers and swiming off the boat with the mountains above us was an amazing moment.

Teach, Learn, Share

When in a new culture, try to never say no to anything or anyone - try everything and you will have the best fun.
Duct tape and iodine liquid are the best things to take travelling.

I've met so many amazing people of different cultures and religions and have learnt so many things (big and small) from them, their lifestyles and their friends and families - this is why i am couch surfing.
