About Me
CURRENT MISSION
learn Spanish, carry out my research project
ABOUT ME
Hi! I'm currently a student, I'm doing a Masters degree in International Migrations from the University of Poitiers, France. In the final six months of my degree (i.e. now!) I have to do some fieldwork on a migrant population. My area of interest is Indian migration, and because I also had the opportunity to do an Erasmus semester in Almeria, Spain, I decided to study Indian migrations in this region. I will (hopefully!) be doing my fieldwork in Malaga and Gibraltar with the established Hindu communities in these two cities during April. I hope to find places to couchsurf whilst I'm in these two cities - I think this has got to be the best way to directly meet local people and learn about their lives (I'm a sociology student - I'm nosey and want to find out about how other people live!!!), discover all the best things to do and see and connect!
I'm not so bad in the kitchen, so if you put me up I'll see what I can cook up for you!
OK, hopefully see you soon!
PHILOSOPHY
Not sure if I have a personal philosophy as such. I think its important to reflect on yourself, try and understand why you are like you are, why you do what you do and why you want what you want. And of course, be open minded and curious, though I should imagine EVERYONE on this site is basically curious and open minded or else they wouldn't have signed up!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I have to admit I haven't participated for a while now, over 18 months... The reason being that I was living in France, and my housemates weren't too keen on hosting people. However, I used to take part a lot more when I lived in Senegal and England - we regularly hosted surfers and I always went along to couchsurfing meet ups at l'institu francais in Dakar. Anyway, now's a good time to get back into it!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
2 nights surfing in Paris and have hosted quite a few people in Leeds and Dakar

Music, Movies, and Books
film: errrrr, the last really good film I saw was The Lunchbox. I'm pretty terrible at remembering the names of films, actors or directors though.
books: currently reading Anatomia de un Instante by Javier Cercas. I naively thought I'd read it to learn Spanish and understand a piece of recent Spanish history, though I don't think my Spanish is fuerte enough yet...
music: the jam, the kinks, arctic monkeys, jamie t, dizzee rascal. Am on spotify and always love finding new stuff and new styles, though I always come back to the above mentioned artists.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Hitched from London to Istanbul.
Teach, Learn, Share
Maybe a bit of sociology? I'm a terrible teacher though!
